Unit stats like meat shield for clan rats.
Where do I find out what these actually do?

they are more of a descriptor than an actual ability.

So the meat shield ability dosent actaully do anything, it jsut tells you what the units good at.

Its a brief glance over at a units key traits, useful when looking at enemies quickly to figure out what a unit youre not familiar with does. Meat shield primarily means dont expect it to kill anything unaided, but it will take enemy units a decent amount of time to chew through the unit, theyre also cheap.

OK great, thank you. So does that also go for abilities like scurry away? Does that just mean they are quick at retreating?
Nerivant Oct 2, 2017 @ 1:33pm
Scurry away is an actual passive ability, those are on the bottom of the unit's stats, hover over it with a mouse and it should show you what it does. Scurry away iirc is a 12% move boost when they withdraw or rout to help them run away from combat faster.

It's very confusing, actually, because it's completely inconsistent.

For instance, "meat shield" as has been pointed out, is just a general description of function and doesn't point to any particular ability. "Scurry away", on the other hand, describes an actual special ability that can be found at the very bottom of the unit description. "Low morale" is one that you see a lot on Skaven, and it is drawing your attention to a particular stat. Finally, (and this is the type that really surprises me) the High Elven Tiranoc Chariot has a note that the archers use fancy bows that shoot three arrows at a time, and they actually DO, but that awesome fact isn't reflected anywhere else on the unit description. No little round special ability marker or anything.

So as you can see, sometimes those notes at the top don't mean much, sometimes they draw your attention to things, and sometimes they're VERY important.

Side note: another one of the last type of notes is on the White Lions of Chrace. It says they get special advantages in the forest. Anyone know what those actually are?

Strider, most likely - faster movement.

Yea it's strider in forests. Travelling through forests will not decrease the units speed like travelling through forests will do to others.

not only forest the terrain too like if you go to uphil you won't lose speed .

OK awesome I'll keep my eyes out for it :) would be good if they put out some sort of a guide to help along with this. Surly a page I'm the encyclopedia wouldn't be that hard!

Oh, that's good to know as well.

I also just found out the other meaning for the White Lion's Forest Strider passive. It increases their melee attack by 10% and and melee defence by 20%. So it's actually a pretty good passive buff

So keep those White Lions in the trees if you're able to!

Wow! That's a lot of buff. So where are you finding this info? I just realized I've never looked at the tooltip on the unit during combat in a forest. There, or somewhere else?

white lion coat says something about passive magic resistance too but it's not actually on the unit

Expendable is a useful one to know. They have their own moral bar this time around, so all expendable units don't cause your own army to lose moral when they die or rout, only other expenable units. Making them a great first line for skaven armies who suffer from low leadership, and a couple of the old world races when they come.

"meat shield" is not a discription, its an "ability". Units with "meat shield" do not cause a moral debuff for units without "meat shield" when they rout.
