They're not out of the way if you can have a single lord consistently looting them every 1-3 turns. It is a choice sure, but it's often just 10k & other strong buffs just sat waiting for me in the ocean.. I'm not going to say no... there's just no fun in it.
As things stand, I'd really wish sea loot was much more rare and with an odd battle involved (make it a land battle, idc), while ruins were a spawn separate from actual cities and offered more consistent rewards.
I like the idea I just feel it's way too op for how easy it is. Whereas treasure hunting ruins often isn't even worth it as the reward is underwhelming AND presents a risk.
I agree, it's a shame there's no naval combat to complement this feature. Random Kraken encounters would go awesome with this - not sure if they exist in the Warhammer universe though!
Definitely room in the lore for it, lothern sea guards wear sea serpent skins as cloaks, part of their right of passage being having to kill one. The far reaches of the deep oceans certainly have giant monsters lurking in the depths.
Maybe game 3.. but best not get our hopes up..

I mean, when your dark elves it's as easy as making a black ark and have it troll around the oceans for free stuff. You'd be trolling around with a black ark anyways so may as well make money while you do it.
