Confederation as Skaven
I'm playing as Mors, and have become chummy with both Moulder and a more minor clan living next to them, very close to my territory. Moulder is sitting on some warpstone I would ofc like to take for my own use, but in an un-Skaven manner I don't want to destroy their whole faction for it. Not violently anyway, I'm ok with them joining my banner and losing their individual identity.

My question is: How does confederation work as Skaven, and can Mors confederate with one of the four major clans? It would go against the lore, so there might be something set in to prevent it.

Currently we have a military alliance they were VERY eager to form due to some elves living next door, but it's a big no for the confederation right now. Relations are improving though, so I'm hoping we can seal the deal later.

For what its worth, i've seen Skaven clans confederate with eachother during my campaigns so it should be possible.
You are alot more patient than me... I just killed them :Geralt:

Thanks for the confirmation on the possibility of confederation! I could go your tactic if they had more than the one settlement, but they don't and their leader is spineless so I doubt they would expand much, especially with half of their neigbors being other Skaven.

I am also considering going back one save and just stabbing them in the back once I've taken the elf-thing city in between our areas, but I wouldn't want to take the diplomatic reputation hit just yet... Then again, those lizardmen are starting to hate me despite our non-aggression pact (made to get a quest done) so I'm not sure if Queek would have much use for good reputation any way :dssmallbird:

I'd say do whatever gets you ready for the incoming hatred (and armies) you will naturally attract. Even if it means backstabbing fellow clans. Just Skaven being Skaven. :Geralt:

So far it doesn't matter what race I am playing, how strong I am and how friendly I am with the faction I want to confederate.
FOR EVER ALONE !
Thus! I invade everyone with my armies!
Everyone one will love me and despair !!!!!

don't do military alliance.... defence alliances are ok but not this... it count your military power on their military power and you will never get a confederation with them

Is this a bug or a feature in the game???

I'm curious as well. I formed a military alliance thinking it would make us closer friends but I guess I should go back a few turns to go the defensive rout.

I'm playing as Clan Pestilense, and had a minor skaven faction with one minor settlement and half an arm stack on my continent I could not for the life of me confederate (so I did the Skaven thing and ate them all)
Went to the other continent, encountered Clan Mors, quickly made military alliance with them, cleaned most of the continent of other factions, so Mors was not in any immediate danger, and was even expanding their territory and army. Went to the diplomacy screen contemplating declaring war, and saw that the confederation option was green...
It's so random

Wow, it does sound random! Either that or the faction leaders have traits that make it easier or harder to confederate with them. In either case, I'll be prepared to devour them for that much needed warpstone. The Horned Rat can not be denied!

It took me 85 turns to confederate them, around 150+friendship. It would be just better to sack and raze their cities in the first 15 turns and get use of their goldmine. Confederations are waste of time.
