Well, to get the obvious out of the way: find settlements with the special "golden plaques" resource, and build a watchamacallit there to produce 10 plaques each turn. Any other settlement also produces 1 per turn.

Other than that; explore ruins, salvage shipwrecks on the seas, complete quests, that kind of thing. You're really going to have to scrape for it at the beginning of the game.

All settlements and cities give one 'warp ritual token' per turn as a base income. But some sites allow for special buildings to be make to add ten per turn. Other than that, quests are the only other way to get the tokens.

As for the AI always getting their rituals started before you, it's pretty obvious that the AI is working off of a set script, with a small random plus or minus five turns or something. It's clearly cheating. Which makes the uselessness of intervention armies all the more annoying.

Shipwrecks, mysterious islands and all the sites found at sea give fantastic bonuses. Try those.

Really rubs salt in the wound when you have a 10k gold intervention that gets wiped out attacking a settlement - meanwhile I have a dark or high elf army that can go past my walls and raze it on the turn of spawning.

Yea i got one of these as Skaven, except it was minus 50% weapon damge and it lasted for over 30 turns. It was almost impossible to win any battle with a debuff like that, autoresolve or otherwise.

skaven plague btw is stupid, it destroys armies and lasted for 10 turns.

The AI clearly isn't working off a set script. But it is entirely possible that the AI gets some 'help' with ritual resources just like they do with gold.
