Skink Skirmishers (the blowpipes) are, for all intents and purpouses, your primary ranged lizard. they fire while moving too, so they can skirmish with relative ease. add the tendency for ranged units to actually arc their shots now, and you can reliably keep them in a back line.
The skink Cohorts with Javelins, while classified as a ranged unit, just aren't, in form and function. rather, they are a slightly more expensive light infantry, with a bonus ranged attack. their best use is to have them flank an occupied unit, unload their javelins to soften an enemy, then go in for the kill. seriously they LITERALLY have the SAME melee stats as regular skink cohorts.
