Here's another person who hasn't done any research.

CA have stated time and time again sea battles will be auto-resolve only.

Warhammer naval combat is a different IP called Man O' War.

Sea battles can never come to total war warhammer sadly... unless GW give CA the rights to man o' war.

There was some sort of legal issue with Man O' War: Corsair owning the rights to naval battles in Warhammer. Sounds BS to me but that's just what I've heard from TotalBiscuit.

@shogun you are also uninformed while you are right for the first part CA stated that they would rather put resources into other things then Navel!

It isn't BS sadly. Man o' war was a stand alone game made by games workshop, set in the warhammer universe, and is NOT apart of the basic Copyright of warhammer fantasy battles.

naval battles sucked anyway

I think one of the reasons there's no sea battles is that it would take tons of time to implement, and it would be practically like a new game.

Think about all the flying units that need special handling in a sea battle, and add in monsters on board ships, sea monsters, spells, and so on.

I'm not saying it wouldn't possible and I think it would be pretty damn awesome to have a sea based WH game, but it'd take a huge amount of effort.

Well, there IS a sea based WH game but it's kinda jank.

I'm not uninformed. It's a fact that CA can't use the Man O' War IP.

That's all there is to it. That is why they can't do it.
I mean how would that even work with the combat system of the game? It just seems like that is a lot to add around what the game is centered around.

TW had 4 major installations, also the most beloved one like rome or medieval, that had no sea battles, i think the first game that had them was empire. I think they are neat, but that means that seabattles arent that integral to TW games. Also, in Tabletop Warhammer Fantasybattle, Seabattles arent really a thing.

I can see your point, but doing them properly would require every faction to get like 5-6 highly detailed ships, and thats kinda too much effort for something that actually isnt of that huge importance to the idea of the game.
