How do you deal with food as skaven?
This mechanic is quite retarded you get almost nothing from raiding and past 3 provinces it's just WAYY to cumbersome. How do you deal with food?

Seems retarded... but seems legit.

just think of it as you hunting slaves and escaped prisoners and other minor skaven clans eventually they band up to fight you.

best done in newly captured provinces it slows down the advance but allows you to buy some places at lvl 3

also shift to the +2 food -30% income province order on small provinces that helps

Honestly I don't. In vanilla, I often hover around 0 food. Yes, the debuffs are bad, but not expanding is worse. You're going to be very, very negative with vanilla WH Skaven. You can do tricks like farming rebels, but IMO it's not worth it to waste an army on that.

Steel Faith Overhaul makes it really easy to manage because they give the warren building a food. If you want something that keeps the mechanic around and still fairly challenging (the SFO "fix" means you'll have basically unlimited food late game), there's a much more subtle mod that just adds a bit of food to resource sites and ports -- you'll still be negative, but not -60:

I usually just raid my neighboors. :D

easiest is just raid 1-2 turns after completly capuring a province, you did sack and rebuild? you can get an extra 10-15 food this way. Also the province order for +2 food and 30% penalty to income isnt that bad when you factor in slave wheels and bonus from warlords i normally keep my food near the top and use up 40 food to make a province capital lvl 3 set to make food and build a slave wheel

You need those food production provinces, and change your province bonus to +2 food.
However this only matters at begining of the game more. Just ignore the whole food thing. In mid-late game you already should have enough bonuses for your skavens to nullify whole penalty on morale. Food mechanic is simply broken. This is still isn't the biggest problem you face as skavens. Biggest problem is buggy siege engines in sieges. I hate that bug which prevents me using them sometimes.

I did before I had more than 3 provinces, then I said ♥♥♥♥ it and kept it at 0, now I have like -60 food per turn by the end of the campaign, any food I gather from battles in the same turn end up in free captured settlement upgrades.

Not too difficult. Raid a bit. Eat all captives from battles. Focus expansion efforts towards those provinces with pastures. And as with cash flow, recognise that you'll be running on negative some of the time.

Don't go crazy with the instant high lvl settlements or overdo The Menace Below either.
