Edit: Also, something similar may happen if the besieged city is your only port. Basically, trade income in TWW2 requires a connection from capitol to capitol, so if a siege interrupts that, you lose all the trade income.
To be more specific about the location:
Skaven campaign - province southern jungles - settlement Dawn's light
Like I said, I have a lot of ports and even settlements on the other continent, f.e. The Capes - Citadel of Dusk. So not sure about the port thing.
If the besieged settlement is your only port on the continent that your capital is on, then that's the issue.
Yeah, you lose ALL trade income when first major city is sieged. It's crazy.
I lose 10-20k income whenever chaos appear out of nowhere to siege my major city.
Noobs.
"with a port" - My only explanation, and the most obvious one, is that a lot of your income is coming from trade. Why was this so hard for you to figure out?
EDIT: Also, that port was probably the one with a direct line to your capital.
