On higher difficulties, I find Defender more useful for the recruiting, economic, and PO, and diplomacy bonuses. On lower difficulties where I'm not worried about managing my empire as much, Bloodline lets tyrion sweep a lot of armies.
Was going to say the same. I chose defender of Ulthuan in my current game, and have been pretty happy with it. Tyrion is pretty strong as it is, so I believe the murderblender and God talk I'm hearing.
That's the thing, you don't need that. Against the AI you can already win with a decent army. You don't need an auto-win unit. Winning battles is not the hard part.
Fielding multiple armies, covering enough ground, building a good economy. These are the important things you need in a campaign. So Defender of Ulthuan is without a doubt superior.
Wait, are the two lines mutually exclusive? Sorry for the dumb question: I am not that far into the High Elf campaign yet.
Lower level public order and upkeep is not detrimental issue so you probably can choose the bloodline but defender's economic bonus would still have more positive impact.
