NOT ENOUGH DISK SPACE TO UPDATE

Everytime I go to update the game since launch, I have recieved this error message. I have to constantly delete games that are loaded to create space to update. Sometimes the update is less than a gig of data, I have 50+ gb free, and I still recieve this same error message. What gives?!? Why do I have to have so much free space to update this game? I have more than enough space to update, but cannot. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm stuck at 83% and have done everything listed on the support page and what I usually whenever I've run into this rare problem. 60 bucks for a game locked behind ♥♥♥♥♥♥ DRM.

Your best bet is to just reinstall the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

That is because of Steam's ♥♥♥♥ way of updating, and your internet connection. It took me less than ten minutes.

Hi dont mean to hijack your thread, but everytime I get an update since warhammer 2 I have a massive preallocating time then it says its downloading but sometimes only 600kbs or not at all. I open my world of warships updater it hits 8mb+ in secs. I dont get it with other games on steam so I am going to back the other guys suggesting this is steam bug and th game being huge. Still raging though wasted an hour already. ah thats better. : )

Does anyone have a fix for this disk space error. The update is 100mb and I have 10gigs free but it says I need 40gigs to install the 100mb patch. I really don't want to have to uninstall and install again for a 100mb patch

You have to uninstall then, Steam copies the game again into your game folder temorarily doubling the size, but when the allocation is done, and the 100 mb is done, the size reverts to it's 40gb instead of 80gb.

As others have mentioned in this thread (and every other thread complaining about update issues), it's the nature of how Steam patches the games - it makes a full backup of the game to revert back to in-case something goes wrong with the update. It's a real issue with TWW because the game's that big in the first place.

When I get this error...often...I just shut down Steam and reboot, fixes it each time so far...except for today's weirdness where it is taking forever to dl 88Mb
