High elf hero uses
So im wondering about the Hero units of the Helfs, im playing tectlis mortal empires right now, Just got a nobel and my mage is on her way back from gettin trade aggrements. First what exactly is the difference role wise between loremasters and mages, is it just a hybrid caster/melee? Also i hear that nobels are best used to gain influence but as tectlis i find i have little use for it but for better commanders, but they do look to make decent melee heros, one to stick in with Tectlis as a body guard or enemy commander killer.

Loremasters are hybrids that rely on support magic, mages specialize in all spell-types including support, direct damage, area of effect damage, vortex, bombardment, and missiles

I just use nobles as melee fighters as well but it is a matter of preference

Are Nobles any good at assassination?

One kind of tricky topic for me is that out of the three heroes there's none that really stick out as being good on the campaign.

noble is probably my favorite campaign map hero

Getting influence is pretty solid after your economy starts rolling.

Assassination wise noble should have the best chance among 3 heroes

Damaging army can be reasonably helpful although I didn't bother testing this too much.

I personally like to give each army a Noble for no reason other than the Replenishment bonus.

Yeah, i notice'd this to be pretty strong in the lizardmen campaign with skink chiefs, especially when combined with the global buff skill that gives 20% replenishment already.

I play a lot HE, like this:

I use nobles most on the map for influece farming and assassination. Also I merge them in an army as anti-large unit (feet or horse).

For every lord I have 1 mage and 1 swordmaster:
- mages for damage output with spells, and anti-infantry as soon as they can ride chariots
- swordmasters give exp every turn, they are awesome melee and decend support spellcasters. (most improved spells are aoe)

Use your heroes as often as you can on the map to exp them faster (assassination, steal technology, influence etc...)

Plus in higher difficulties (I play VH) heroes are lifesavers:
- mage/s cleanse the ground for corruption (must have) unless you want to spend with your army ages in a garrison to prevent rebellions.
- nobles in the same way may have followers for "+public order". I park them in freshly annexed provinces.

I see, those are the exact problems i am having in my Tectlis campaign right now, I conqour the vampire coast but i can't expand because of a rebellion every 5 turns but im still waiting on my starting mage to get back from making contact with ultuan for trade aggrements. And i see how the nobel would be nice for public order.

A quick question I have for y'all is what trait line you go with for Tyrion?

Defender of Ulthuan or Blood of Aenarion.

I went with Defender for that sweet -15% upkeep combined with Devoted of Isha means Tyrion's army will be a powerhouse in the campaign map without killing me economy.

Plus I had a banner that gave him cause fear

What does everyone else think about choosing a god and which unique skill line is better for Tyrion?

You can use a Noble as a good melee combatant, however on the strategic map he can farm influence and you need that stuff.

You can safely pick all the Khaine skills for Tyrion and nevermind the public order penalties. HE have good buildings and technologies to mitigate that.

As for the god choice, it really depends on your playstyle and army composition. HE are very versatile so you can build any army you like and choose a god best suited for it.

I always go Defender. I mean, Blood of Aenarion is sweet, but ultimately, I don't need to inflate his already very decent martial skills. On the other hand, -10% upkeep for everyone? +20 relation with every high elf? 1-turn global recruitment? Hell yes.

-1 turn on global recruitment wins against any other buffs. Tyrion in player's hand always outlevel AI anyways. Even at even levels Tyrion would stomp enemy lord. So there really isn't a need for the extra damage. As for nobles I put them in army since you do not get a halberd on horse that often. I love how insanely fast he is and most lords are large anyways. Noble is really useful.

How many Nobles do you use for Influence-farming duties? I use an Agent limiter mod, so I only have 3 Agents to spare, so I am always starved for Influence, since I use all 3 Nobles as melee combatants.

Yeah im playing Teclis so intrigue isnt super in demand and i have a decent amount, one thing too, do you use noble intrigue gathering on allies? or just on Helf factions that dislike you? If allies how do you keep good relations with them?

Hmm, there is a different outcome depending on whether you farm it on friendly or un-friendly HE factions?

Can you also farm on non-HE factions?

I've never tried Influence-farming at all.
