Malekith
So, I was wondering if he really needs to bear a shield, as he is part spellcaster. Could be nice to see CA coming up with something new as having the sword and magic and come up with new animations. Or I might just be a bit peckish. What are your guys opinions?

Malekith uses Destroyer and Supreme Spellshield in the lore and on tabletop. There is no reason why he would not use them in the game.
Destroyer is the sword that destroys magic items, and Supreme Spellshield is the shield that absorb enemy spells and shoot back the magic energy.

I want to see Dark Elf gameplay and mechanics SOO BAD for the second game!

Yea as Haru said, his shield is always a part of his kit in both lore and TT.

I just hope they do the dark magic lore up good for him. Dark Elves are probably the top magic race in the TT game or at very least contenders with their extra power dice generation, sacrificial dagger, and +1 to spell cast attempts. They brute force the winds of magic better than any race except maybe Slaan... And big daddy Teclis.

This.

Too many lords have a sword-and-board model + animations. Regardless of whether or not the supreme spell shield will be an item of his, I really hope that Malekith uses his off-hand for magic and some unique attacks.

Watching Malekith in the trailer using his free hand for magic and just taking arrows like a boss got me excited to use him. If he has a shield slapped onto his model by default, I will be a bit disappointed.

Wulfrik's model tease at the end of the Norsca trailer DID NOT feature a shield, yet he has a shield now. However, Malekith's in-game model WAS teased with a shield, so I find it quite unlikely that they would create the model and textures for a shield but not slap it on his model.

TL'DR - Get ready for another generic sword-and-board animation style.

The thing is that without shields, they're susceptible to Ranged attacks. I prefer casters with shields for this.

Well, I will understand if it is done accordingly to the tabletop and lore but it did look pretty neat when they presented him.

Both Malekith and Wulfrik had models where they carried shields for TT, so idm it much either way with Malekith. Wulfrik I was actually hoping would wield his greatsword double handed, I don't think there's a Lord yet that does that without it being a hammer/axe yet?

No but maybe we might see something in the future, probably on the third game. I am assuming it will most likely be a Chaos focused game with demons.

Malekith never had a shield in tabletop. The spellshield is more like a personal shield generator from star wars than a literal shield. this was the one thing that bothered me about his in game model.

He did. Because armybook lists it as a shield. His mini just captures him casting some ♥♥♥♥ with his left hand without using shields.
