The Historical haters need to stop crying
"HISTORICAL TEAM – UNANNOUNCED TOTAL WAR TITLE

Our next major historical release is now in full production with the game design locked and asset creation fully underway. The game retains the same strong focus on character design that infused previous major releases, with the key personalities of the period in particular being an early priority for us now; as such there are some vibrant and striking renders plastered around the studio, with eye-catching combat animations garnering some serious attention too."

You are making yourself look like entitled crying man babies, they are working on your next game at this very moment, calm your man tits.

P.S. Warhammer is great :steammocking:

Ignorance is not bliss in this case! Ignorance is baby rage

Yeah, ignorance can go both ways. The unknown isn't always a bad thing. I'm a HUGE history fan and knew nothing about Warhammer other than thr Skaven from Vermintide, Bretonnian lore randomly, and Blood Bowl tie in, but it looked so bad ass that I gave it a shot. So ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ glad I did. History is cool, but the history titles were stale not for lack of trying, but lack of radical material. I switched to King Arthur for a while until Warhammer was announced and quickly fell for it, diving into lore, making mods, etc. I think Warhammer is the best thing to happen to Total War.

1. It challenges the creativity of the team and allows them to experiment and try more radical mechanics and better story telling.

2. Its success revitalized CA and the series, giving them massive amounts of funds after running low after Rome 2 and Attila. The company tripled in size at least and their bar has been raised.

3. It brings more outsiders into the series overall. Like it or not, fantasy tends to bring in more fans than history buffs.

4. Revitalized the strategy genre in general with its success.

5. Has given CA carte blanche to make a new engine and do any setting they want for the next historical game.

It will be worth the wait. It's just like waiting for an Elder Scrolls game. The best games take longer. I'd rather have them take their time than rush it like they did with Rome 2 and Empire. Also, TW NEEDS a new engine.

I've had every Total War game. I'm a big fan. But all these people moaning and whining about them making Warhammer games is pissing me off so much that I hope they never make another historical game just to spite these morons.

I'd say that I saw some good reasonning and arguments from some of those you call "cry babies"... Couldn't we just agree to disagree without insulting each other? Oh, sorry, I forgot we are just a bunch of guys talking online, so no, we can't.

And yes, I love total war-hammer even though they messed up the title ^^

No they deserve to be called names for being so ridiculous. They don't have any good arguments, the next historical TW IS COMING. Like I said in another thread, historical has been the name of the game for almost 2 decades for this franchise, a slight deviation from this for 2 years and they come out of the woodwork to complain.
VEF215 2017 年 4 月 5 日 上午 8:16
Calm down with the melodrama. Creative Assembly is made up of real people, they probably got tired of working on historical titles for 2 decades and decided to work on something new that excites them. You should be happy for them, they are bringing one of the best fantasy worlds to life using their great franchise, not moping around and threatening to "leave them for good." They are working on the next historical as well, and it will be coming out soon, you have 0 reason to whine.

For those who are ecstatic about the announcement of a back to back Warhammer release I am happy for you. If any of you are new to the franchise...well, take heed of this warning.

Creative Assembly has most certainly shown itself to break from tradition and what made the series great in the first place to go after money. One could argue that is just business, but when a long time series begins to drastically change itself and do away with long standing norms and unwritten codes they have followed for years, you are only inviting the inevitible and that is their forgotten fan base will never forget.

PRIME EXAMPLE: Call of Duty. A series that started out great, but changed and catered so much to the newer generation while against the requests of much of the original fan base. Last year we saw how this practice finally backlashed when BF1 decided to tap into that anger while COD continued down it's own self destructive path. The only difference Total War currently has is that they have no competitors for this type of game. But who knows what games are going to be out in the coming years and if one is coming in to grab players from Total War who are now having to wait ages for their next historical release, I think it is safe to say they would go to the studio that promises to never move them to the shelf in order to bring out a game so unlike what they have been used to and have come to trust their direction only to feel betrayed 20 titles later.

For years and years the Total War series always followed one simple flow if you will on how they release the next Total War. They would always release the main game and then a a large standalone expansion. They do this at a pretty quick rate as you can see below:

2000 - Shogun - Mongol Invasion
2002 - Medieval 1 - Viking Invasion
2004 - Rome - Alexander
2006 - Medieval 2 - Kingdoms
2009 - Empire - Napolean
2011 Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai
2013 - Rome 2 - Attila

???? - WH, WH2, WH3

2018 - Next Historical

Sure they may have announced a long time ago (which admitingly I did not notice until being informed yesterday) that they have created two different teams. One to work on a WH series and the other to keep doing Histoical based TW games. Well for us historical lovers, how can we be happy with the disparity between WH releases and the longest stretch between games for us in TW history? How are we even remotely supposed to believe that Warhammer has not slowed down historical titles as others would try to claim it has not?

I am so disappointing in Creative Assembly and now SERIOUSLY question their intentions. In all honesty at this point, if a competitor came along and made a game very much like Total War and refocused their efforts in what made the TW franchise so great to begin with, I think the trust in Creative Assembly is broken enough with the past three releases to leave them for good.

You copypasted this from that other guy who can't get over how CA doesn't cater to his/her every whim.

Also you do know people don't have to be 2D and enjoy all the Total War games, historical or fantasy, right.

And being spiteful towards CA for not catering to you either, by wishing for a competitor that will make better games than Total War is just so fukken sad. Really lowers the community in my view further.

You aproached it with a curious and mature mind, and came out a winner for it, as Warhammer IS excellent. And nothing like any other fantasy setting. I dont like Lord of the Rings myself, for example. But Warhammer rocks!

Many of those who dis it without even trying it havent yet realized that fantasy settings are NOT all the same. And for those who like dark, brutal, grim warfare with rich lore and characters should LOVE warhammer! Its like they are afraid they might be teased if they associate with fantasy LOL!

If only more historical fans were like you, sir.

Game companies over the last 3 decades have taken a shot at Warhammer, but its so vast and complex, that any shortcut wont work, and because of this, every attempt to bring Warhammer from the table to the PC (or console) has been mediocre at best.

TW pulled it off (counting whats coming all I can say is WOW!) when no one else could!

CA impressed the HELL out of me, creating a masterpiece, and introducing me to their talents, making ME an Historical TW fan!

So it works both ways.

And therefore, they will be selling more TW historical titles, as I CANT be the only Warhammer fan that has become a fan of thiers through these Warhammer release....

Warhammer is WIN WIN for everyone. It doesnt cost them anything, it doesnt take away from what is in development for them, and they are being prudish and immature for hating on a product they never even gave a chance to (most of the whiners havent tried it, as the word fantasy scared them away lol. They must have complexes about identifying with thier imaginative perceptions haha).

Your post, however.....Well, people like you are awesome! And I am glad when anyone see's what I see in Warhammer's universe. The more players, the better!

The only crying is coming from historical fanboys having a circlejerk bitchfit that CA isn't their personal slave tasked with supplying them with a new historical game every 12 months. These losers have actually managed to convince themselves that history nerds are somehow superior to fantasy nerds.

1) Thread necro, although thank you for doing so and not just starting yet another on the same theme.

2) Your attitude and vehemence only proves the OPs point.

3) You can think of the Warhammer titles as a trilogy, and thereofre 1 title, if it makes you feel better.
