Great to know that not all chapters boil down to removing all the lights so it becomes almost impossible to advance if you are not prepared. Guess Ill try my best to get through the Lucy chapter.... but it did leave a sour taste, I am stressed to play it again not cause the game is scary... but because I know I will be staring at the Loading Screen for along time :(
Any tips for Lucy chapter? As I mentioned I just got to the part where she kicks you out of the room, the only source of healing is that light where the washroom usually is. I got a camera and 4 lighters (which apparently don't help with sanity at all). My issue is that... since the whole house is in complete darkness and I need to go down all the way to the basement... either the monster spawns and insa kills me, or I loose sanity so fast that I get insta killed also... maybe my camera glitched idk
EDIT: Nvm managed to beat it... the sanity system just seems to be all over the place, sometimes standing under a good source of light will skyrocket it, other times I can be in the dark for quite sometime and im totally fine, like you said... the game just wants you to follow a very specific path and in a certain order, anything else and its instant death.
Actually when you know the plot the game will get more interesting and easier.
Some people think that Dolores is not easy to escape but in fact it's not true. Well, I personally think that Lucy's friend is the hardest to escape. I know every corner of the game but he still gets me at least once in a game.
Wait what you mean about pills? I beat the entire Lucy chapter and didnt use them once... seemed kinda useless considering you can heal sanity just standing by a light source (even tho the game says past a certain point you can only use pills), and sanity drops so fast that even if you take a pill, its gonna go down again in a few seconds....also there is points in the story where your sanity cant go down no matter what for some reason....so I really dont get the point of pills.
So you are saying pills prevent sanity drop? Ill try it out tonight.. just waiting for sun to go down so I can play more lol I played almost every horror game out there... Visage is the first horror game where I need to take breaks cause of how nerve-wracking it is... so technically scariest game I ever played 0_0
I know you said you beat it, but just for future reference (if you ever play Lucy's chapter again... personally, it's my fave chapter), there are clues as to where to go when the lights are all gone. (I.e. when you first wake up in the basement, and the lights are gone...you'll notice there's a box of light switches on the floor...if you follow them, they lead you upstairs to where you need to go; later at another part, there's scratches on the walls that you should follow to know where to go; etc. The thing is people often overlook the clues as to where to go). Also, taking pills definitely helps prevent sanity from getting too low. In fact, I never use candles... I just use the pills. As for the demon monster... you have to keep flashing your camera repeatedly in order to keep him from attacking.
Yeah I noticed all the subtle cues.. thats why I knew were to go at all times, was just hard to actually get there with all the instant deaths lol. And interesting you both told me about the pills thing, since I avoided them as I read in a review just before I bought the game, that they were basically useless...they could had also been playing the early acess build so who knows, gonna try to do the next chapter using pills tho, btw if you didnt use candles.. what did you use? I started just spamming camera as that would randomly stop sanity from dropping... but is it worth still using past Lucy chapter?
Which chapter do you mean? Which is the final one?
Anyway, whenever I heard the chase music during the "Lucy Levels", I would back into a corner and spam the camera in his direction. Eventually, he would go away and I could continue.
I didn't use any candles. I stuck with the camera, lighter, and sanity pills.
For Dolores' Chapter, when you get the sledgehammer, I seriously recommend smashing all the mirrors before doing/entering any of them. People have had issues with the sledgehammer disappearing and not being able to recover it -- sometimes reloading didn't help. I didn't experience that issue myself but that may have been why. There is one mirror level that needs the sledge that you can do after you're done with smashing all the mirrors.
If you're stuck on one mirror level, try another. You may find a needed clue or item elsewhere.
Rakan's chapter is pretty easy, but you may need to turn down your graphics settings (if they're not minimum already) as some of the cut scenes and levels can be stuttery otherwise.
Use multiple save files, especially before starting a new chapter or segment. Just in case a bug comes your way, you can reload and do something else until it's resolved.
