I would be unbelievably ecstatic if Death Stranding won GOTY. It deserves it. I played it on release (PS4) and what it certainly didn't deserve was the insurmountable hate and comical relief. Recent reviews are "Overwhelmingly Positive" (unheard of for a AAA game) and I can't help think Death Stranding's divisiveness was largely due to a portion of gamers (PC-based) not being able to experience it. Now they have, they understand what so many people were trying to say. Some of ya'll dragged Kojima's name through the mud, and you need to clean it up and put it beneath a GOTY award.

The nominees for each categories are not even well thought-off nominations. It's pretty much who's the most popular game atm that usually wins..

Games that should be nominated under the Labor of Love categories are games such as Cuphead, Dark Souls III, Skyrim V, and etc. because these are games that requires tons of hard-work, time and dedication, hence why it's called Labor of Love...

At least half of the nominees are either nothing special or out and out horrible. The standards or your typical gamer just get lower and lower every year.

Yeah sure, like anyone giving that tripe praise has ever read anything related to genuine philosophical questions of human nature, let alone ever read a quality tale about the hubris of man such as from countless classic science fiction authors. Geez, it is almost like people vote on the game that they know, usually being the popular one ... Look I disagree with most of these too but you do know how this works right? Only popular games will be nominated because many people play them and thus get more votes.
Though I seriously wonder why Stardew Valley is not on the list.
