We can suggest for old color scheme, more filters for the libraries, including the old ones, non-steam game links functionality back, movable panes for the library screen, ect....
There is something very strange going on there, with your CPU usage. My lowly 3770k only uses 0.2% usage.
I've seen multiple reports of 700+ on top of seeing it happen to a PC I was helping to set up the other day (it's part of my job, because yes, "tech expert" is relevant in my case). I've seen high end gaming PCs which are getting totally normal performance out of Steam, and others with equivalent specs where Steam is just chewing through RAM for no apparent reason. I've seen CPU cycles being wasted in some PCs, and practically untouched on others. The issues with the client are really inconsistent, and not dependent on any clearly-identifiable factor that I can see.
There are major performance and optimisation issues that are affecting users, but they're not affecting everyone. Every system I've had a chance to test it on has demonstrated the same reproducible memory leak though, and that is an issue I've seen evidence of having been reported in beta and not fixed. And it's potentially platform-breaking for certain users because of how it behaves. And even some of that problem's behaviours aren't entirely consistent.
Yeah its a Library and not an news feed so... why have news there? i hate the new library so much!
Create Steam.exe shortcut on desktop
right-click and go to properties
Change Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe"
to
Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -no-browser +open steam://open/minigameslist
apply changes and Ok out
then exit Steam and open shortcut
and you can always come back to this crappy home library thing by opening steam Normally
Yeah, you're right. GOG, Origin, Uplay (not that I'll touch anything Ubisoft personally), Discord's store, itch.io and various other PC gaming stores certainly don't exist. It's only Steam and Epic you can buy games from.
OK, sure, I'll just "get over" the fact that it can ramp up to using more than 1GB of RAM on my PC if I don't carefully manage how I'm using Steam in ways I've never had to before, and that'll magically make the memory leak go away. And I'll tell my customers whose PCs I'm trying to help set up that they should just "get over" the fact that Steam takes at least 3 times longer to load on their PC now and has to essentially reload every time they alt+tab to it after doing something else and they have additional delays every time they click on anything in the interface. because it's just a game library so the fact that it went from ACTUALLY being just a game library to being an incompetent attempt at blending unwanted social media features into the library in a manner that massively impacts the quality of the service you're using it for. And the people who open the page for a game and click "play" only to have Steam open a different game for no apparent reason should just "get over it" too, right? Because they're just here to play games, it doesn't matter what game it is...
If you go to McDonald's and they make you wait for 20 minutes before serving you the wrong order and tell you "get over it, it's just fast food service, you're here to eat not to complain about the fact that we made you wait for your food", is that an acceptable answer?
STEAM lags like anything now, eats up memory like its going out of fashion, freezes when trying to load games at times, crashes when trying to load games at times as well,at times has let me access everything but the library, wont even let you load some games ECT-ECT!!!!
And for me and them it was not doing this before this update went live...........hence its the update that's causing this to happen!!
How would those who are not experiencing these issues like it if they were??
I can say that from going to there being no issues (Except ones that didn't effect STEAM this badly) before the update to the mess STEAM is in for me now it is no picnic...........no picnic at all!!
Please either revert back or let us choose to opt out of this as for some its great but for others (Like I have said before) its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nightmare!!
(I have posted this before but I am posting it again as these problems are serious and are ruining for some what used to be a perfect UI library for gaming but is now marred by freezing, crashes, memory hogging, sometimes not even letting you play games you have paid for ECT-ECT!!)
And this is what a friend had to say when I asked her is she was having issues -
"yes....often times when i open steam and i see that i have comments to reply to, i will click on one of the comments and instead of reaching that post, i am sent to a game....every time i try to move to a page, i often get the wrong page...if i am in the activity feed, things appear in triplets every single time and i have to use the scroller on the side and move it up and down til i finally get single lines...some times my screen is split in half...performance with everything is soo slow, loading takes forever....everything worked perfectly prior to the updates and now nothing works as it should
...it is extremely discouraging"
