dont know about anyone else the defending online is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke there miles away from strikers sometimes they just stop or for some reason move the other way getting a bit pissed off now carries on ♥♥♥♥ this game bring on fifa

Well maybe it's you, Frank Sinclair, You were hardly a paragon of defending genius when you played for Chelsea! I joke, I know what you mean. The cursor change and own team AI defending in all modes it pretty terrible in my opinion. I also hate how the computer cheats you so hard on Superstar mode. Not even attempted Legend mode yet.

No, it's not him it is a real problem. It affects single player too. Needs to be patched now. Tons of threads about this online, reddit and pes forums, huge KNOWN PROBLEM.

defending vs high lvl AI is just frustating my defender just let other team standing free onside, even harder if you defend against team with super fast winger, and somehow my defensive line was made super high even i made it super low in setting they still can't defend through ball, and ofc opposition team did't have the problem,

anyone with same problem?

defending offline is a breeze, online sometimes the total opposite

Defending offline is not a breeze. I don't let in a lot of goals but when I do they are because AI teammates just stop and watch the ball or run away from an attacker or developing situation 75% of the time. 25% of the time it's a header which a 5' attacker will out jump a 6'4 one, or the 6'4 defender simply refuses to jump.

Not Master League if you have the right players, formation, tactics and team spirit.

You need great CB's with the Man Marking skill. They also need speed and explosive power of at least 70. They need to be tall. And obviously they need great defensive prowess, ball winning and heading stats.

I also use a 3 CB formation. That allows the middle guy to act as a sweeper. And the two on the outside to attack opponents coming down the wing, (if the RB or LB screw up), while the other two CB's remain in the center.

Also, progress is much slower in this game. Training, building a good team, etc...so you need to give yourself much more time.

I'm in my 5th season of Master League, on Superstar, and I can see defensive progress, as my team blanks opponents much more now. However, in past PES games, I'd be much further along at this point. It's much tougher to build a great defensive team than an offensive team.

I really like the rebalancing of the game this way, though. It's better than any other PES game. It'll make winning Cups feel that much sweeter, because it's tougher to do, and takes a lot longer.

Also, I always pick the worst team in division 2 to start with, to make it as hard as possible. So it's not like I'm being handed a silver spoon. I just know how to stop this new-look AI.

You need the right formation and tactical setup, too.

I'm actually changing my review from recommended to not recommended. The new gloss has worn off and Konami shows no signs of addressing these issues.
It is not limited to Steam, it's all over Reddit, PES forums, soccer gaming forums etc.

I can agree on that with situations like when defenders make one comical step away from the ball or the striker, happens here and there with crosses coming in or when top strikers like Ibra are nearby then your defenders will ♥♥♥♥♥ their pants lol.

Still nothing compared to online..

What's bizarre about this behavior is that this had always been one of the things that I wished Fifa would incorporate from PES: active responsive AI teammates that didn't have to be controlled to act human... where has it gone?
