And I absolutely complain about Epic Games Store, but more like grumbles in my head when they do more stupid comically evil-like ♥♥♥♥, rather than the actual loud complaints.
i used to have netflix, but i parted amicably with netflix.
never mind. i have the game here. just saying i would have bought the ipad version for on the go, but the netflix thing, just nope.
so, i dunno, ya's are saying that it's Apple? what does Apple have to do with Netflix exclusivity?
I dunno actually, it might be free with a netflix subscription.
the app store page says "seller : Netflix inc. . "
and the game is a free download with an in app purchase of "Netflix : 13.99/ month"
the description says "available exclusively to netflix members"
copyright 2018, Subset Games Inc. .
so this developer, at some point must have decided to do an exclusive deal with Netflix,
I dunno how that make Apple more
my laptop also cost me 2 grand.
maybe next time, i'll just get a steam deck.
if i was gonna do a monthly gaming subscription, i'd probably do gamepass, but i'm still not sure i want to do that.
Not you. Someone else. I'm not against free stuff. It is just impractical in this case considering the party involved. Again, not you. I was specifically telling the other guy of the amusing thing
It annoyed me a bit, but I wasn't going to buy it anyway and just pretended that it didn't exist, the subscription version.
But it does exist. And will be an annoying point for some. In these things, I let the eventual outcomes decide for itself. I move on to other good things which also do not do these things.
In short, it's simple cross-promotion for their own merit: First you need a subscription of random third-party service (Apple/Google takes a XY% cut for it each month), only then can you buy the third-party game (Apple/Google takes a XY% cut once).
Any platform with its own payment system can use similar methods (eg. Steam having different prices for different countries/currencies to maximize profits), simply make research from all kinds of sources to find out what you are actually paying for and why. This will happen as long as big companies have a monopoly on the customer base and legislation doesn't prevent it (lately EU has started to step in, eventually changes could happen but nothing major so far).
Also, if I'm not mistaken, your Netflix sub gives you ITB for free- or at least, it doesn't unlock a purchase but rather allows you to play it.
A quote from Matthew Davis "I think it’s extremely unlikely the mobile version would have ever been finished had Netflix not presented an opportunity to distribute the game without the challenge of how to monetize it. It’s great that we’ve finally been able to finish that port."
Feel how you like about it, but I'm grateful.
I respect that if the only way they could have ported it was through the exclusive deal, then they had to do what they had to do.
which seems kinda weird. why was a netflix exclusive the only way? were they that short on fundage? did they not make a profit off the sales of FTL?
I already bought this once, don't "need" to buy it again, but just saying, i would have.
doesn't matter. I have other games.
The Switch version is regularly priced and iOS users aren't unlikely to pay $15 or so for proper games. The Android market is a little different, though.
