Final Island Impossible with Mafan?

Hello,

i playd with a Random Squad and Standard Difficulty. I done 4 Islands and reached the last Island.

I have a Problem. In this Scenario its only with Random Luck Possible to have the time kill the Psyion Tyran (-1HP each Machine).

But with Mafan i have only 1 HP whatever i do and even with active shield the Psyion Kills Mafans Mech.

With one missing Mech its not possible to prevent massive damage on the Network.

Is Mafan a bad Pilot for the Final?

The Psion's attack is going to remove Mafan's shield and that's about it, since it pops back up every time, as long as you don't lose it you're fine, but yes, it's a bit dangerous and the psion become a greater threat for your team. Still it's possible to win with only two mechs, assuming they can deal with multiple threats in one action, using multi-directional displacement from a ranged mech for instance or with attacks such as wind torrent.
Mafan can be a bit tricky but he is easily one of the best pilots in the game, if not the best for his ability to get +2 cores from the get go and his possibility to block endlessly.

Note that if Mafan is burned, the shield doesn't protect him.

Yes, thats my Problem i cant use Mafan/Charge whyle the Psion is active or Mafan dies next turn. So i must waste 1 or more Turns to reach and Kill the Psion and in this time handle multiple targets that attacks Pylons.

Otherwise Mafan is my Favoriite Pilot i rly like him.

I used a Random Team complete with zenith Mechs and Mafan was in Charge so Charge dont lost HP from attacks.

This was a 4 Island Run with the target dont use any Rep points. One of the Random Team Achievments.

Ah but you said nothing about no charge mech... Yeah in this situation the Psion Tyrant is a big threat. Mafan is in a weird spot, you need to be fairly careful, but at the same time, he is a permanent shield so you are encouraged to take advantage of it. It cuts both ways, and this is one of the way.

Yes, for the final battle its maybe a better idead use Mafan for a Ranged attacker.
Finaly i done it with a 2 Islands run. But i must Kill the Psion after he Spawns, was a hard fight.

On the Other Hand with a 2 Island Run Team its either way a must Kill it after 1 Round for the Reason that the mechs most have only there 3 Basic HP.
