Report a translation problem
Could you try to disable the Steam Input for Into the Breach? You should go to the Into the Breach library page on Steam, click on the gear icon on the left and then select properties. On the new window, under "Steam Input Per-Game Setting", select "Forced Off". Close this window and launch the game again and let me know the results.

My 8bitDo SN30pro is recognised though both in steam and in ITB.
No idea what is going on but my guess is:
the devs went with XInput and the PS controllers are in DirectInput, and they didn't bother to support the dualshock (and mapping it to xbox-like controllers)... which is weird because valve did the whole steamInput thing to wrap everything with a bowtie
