I lost the game, started a new one, and I lost everything
I got to grid power 0 and I lost my 2 power cores and the items I picked up from my last playthrough. I thought this stuff carried over. There is only 1 time traveller available, 1 died on previous playthough. Can someone please explain how this works and what happened?

I played a whole island and only got 2 cores so how am I supposed to get cores to get all these upgrades

Only 1 pilot can be transfered.

Only the pilot travels in time, not the mech or their equipment.

so every game I lose all my power cores and storage items? The AI pilots dont accumulate experience for each game I play since they dont transfer?

Yes, this is a rogue-lite, except very forgiving one because usually you're not supposed to carry over any progress at all, and here you can pick one of your best pilots with best skill combination.

What do you mean by AI pilots? Those 2 other starting ones are just regular pilots. If a pilot dies - then mech would be piloted by AI(with no skills, no levels, can't gain XP).

Honestly the carryover isn't even necessary, since you can pick any time traveler you've unlocked anyway and leveling to max is very quick. Almost feels like a superfluous game mechanic since hte benefit it gives you is very small.

Not always, something like a health-bonus on a self-damaging mech or an extra core for a robot pilot can be a huge advantage.

If a pilot dies, will he be available next game?
If a pilot dies, can I assign a human pilot after that mission is over?
What does experience/level do, I havent seen any upgrades.
How do you get power cores to upgrade your mechs when I beat 1 island and I had gotten only 3 power cores?

Yes, if you unlocked them, you can choose a basic version of them with no experience, but their special starting ability, as your starting pilot in a new game. They can also show up randomly with different experience and abilities.

If you have an extra pilot to spare, you can assign them to the mech with no pilot. Otherwise, the mech is fully functional with an AI pilot, it just doesn't gain XP.

When a pilot gets 25 XP, then 50 XP, they'll level up and get 1 of 4 random traits. +2 HP, +1 movement, +1 reactor, or +3 grid defense. Each pilot can only level up twice and get two of those, and it happens pretty quickly depending on the squad and mech type.
How do you get power cores to upgrade your mechs when I beat 1 island and I had gotten only 3 power cores?
3 is about right. They're a very precious resource, only obtainable from time pods, marked missions on the map with the circle icon, or by spending 3 rep at the end of an island.

If you do not fail a single objective on an island, you'll get a perfect island bonus. This will always offer a special pilot, a weapon, or +2 grid power. If you want reactor cores, you can sell that pilot back for 2 rep, which is a good chunk that'll probably let you get another core.

why would you sell a pilot for a reactor core? I mean reactor cores dont transfer to a new playthrough. If a pilot gains a level, he will have the same level next playthrough? My main pilot died so I will see him again next playthrough but he will have lower experience? He will be available as time traveler too right

Naw man, a pilot dies, they're dead and lose all their levels when you start up a new game. You can start with him again, but he's level 1.

And sometimes selling a pilot for a core is a good idea, since sometimes a pilot just doesn't give a good bonus, your mechs can pilot themselves and that core can sometimes be the thing that enables a great new upgrade.

Because you only have 3 mechs to pilot. Having a 4th pilot sitting around doing nothing is a waste, if you could use the rep you'd get from selling them to get another reactor core. If you want to use the one you get from a perfect island bonus, you can sell the basic pilot they'll replace for 1 rep, as well.
If a pilot gains a level, he will have the same level next playthrough?
If you choose that pilot to take into the next timeline.

Yes, they can show up randomly during a game, or you can just pick a fresh version of them when starting a new game.
Muton Apr 1, 2018 @ 9:37am
Yes my pilot died and the next game he was available with 0 experience. So basically nothing carries over, no experience or levels, to the next game if your pilot dies
June-pie Apr 1, 2018 @ 9:38am
You got it.
Muton Apr 1, 2018 @ 9:48am
some people are saying that when a pilot dies, he will reappear in the next playthrough with some experience and a level upgrade if he was leveled up

If this is indeed what has been said then some people are wrong.
You can find pilots with levels in time pods or get them as a reward for a perfect island bonus.
