Your best custom squads
What are some great custom squads you've discovered? My favorite so far uses 3 Prime mechs. Here's the set up:

Laser Mech: This is the bread and butter of the comp. Put your pilot here. Upgrade first.

Combat Mech: Get Dash Punch early. Use Gana on this mech if possible.

Judo Mech: Your tank. Give him lots of HP. Give him Rock Throw.

This comp makes lining up big hits for the Laser Mech really easy. It's also very easy to prevent Grid damage with the amount of repositioning abilities on this team. Obviously you will want to buy the Laser upgrade that prevents damage to allies, and you can get the same upgrade on the Judo if you like (I don't use it, but it's not bad).

As far as passives and secondaries are concerned; take at least one healing passive (Repair Field is OP), take Rock Throw on Judo, I like Lightning Whip as a secondary on Laser (for when those pesky enemies just won't line up). For the most part secondaries can be swapped around depending on what you want to prioritize.

That's my All-Star comp right now. What about you?

Mine is combat mech, boulder mech and charge mech, with Abe Isamu piloting the charge mech. The armour lets him be a bully without the regular drawbacks, and his mobility lets him act as a firefighter. Combat is a beefy boi who can tank and hit hard, has displacement and is just good all around. Boulder has become my favourite artillery, the ability to block a spawn is too good.

Got a first time win with the squad right away, 3 islands. 4 would have honestly been overkill, 2/3 mechs were pretty much fully built, and boulder didnt need much to begin with anyway.

I love the Boulder Mech. Blocking those spawns is nice, and the reason I take Rock Throw on Judo in my comp. Did I mention my comp is an easy way to get the achievement for a same class build?

Any three prime mechs works great. I did a run with three judo mechs, since they have armor and good mobility and health. It's not amazing until you get a new weapon or two, but from the second island onwards it's incredible.

I found rusting hulks to work really well when I replaced the science by the rift walker prime's

After you unlock additional squads, you can select the Customize Squad button from the Squad Select screen.

I'm basically seeing a lot of love for combat, laser, boulder and judo here. Plus one vote for charge mech. What do you guys think is the best custom/random squad for Hard mode 2-3-4 island victories considering extra spawns? Same mechs?

Triple Ice Mech with Archimedes pilot. Beat hard mode first try with this set up. Can be used to quickly farm achievements on easy. Well, the ones that don't require killing.

My favorite custom squad so far is the jet mech, rocket mech, and combat mech. I swapped the weapons of the jet mech and rocket mech so I have a highly moblie artillery platform. Suprisingly, the rocket mech with the smoke missle has been working out good too.
You know, I hadn't thought of swapping weapons around. Putting something a bit stronger in the judo mech might be a thought, though detracting from another mech I'm not as keen on. I'll have to have a poke and see if there are any other swaps that could work.

Second vote for triple ice artillery, but I say Silica as pilot, for those occasions where you need to deice and fire in the same turn.

I just got the flying squad achievement. While it's not the most powerful by a long shot, running an ice mech (with zoltan shield) and a pair of swap mechs makes for a unique run.

Zero damage, zero health, total battlefield control.

How do you two make use of those pilot's abilities if the Ice Mechs freeze themselves after they shoot? Does shooting a frozen Ice Mech with an Ice Mech unfreeze it?
