If you also enjoyed Advanced Wars, you'll most likely enjoy this game.
From the top of my head, some tactical rpg I enjoyed recently...
If you want a tactical rpg with more story take a look at:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/365480/Ravenmark_Scourge_of_Estellion/
http://store.steampowered.com/app/307670/Hard_West/
If you want mostly tactical battles:

It looks like that type of game I'm looking for.

Though if you go for the optional content that is not story related, prepare to grind a bit...but seriously, the Disgaea games have a Power Rangers/Super Sentai like team as enemies during a few points in the games, that's pretty cool, right?
It is damn good. Prepare to kiss a few hundred hours of your life away if you get it.
Edit: Also check out Tangledeep.

...Besides that, there is Chroma Squad which is a class based turn based strategy game...where you play with Power Rangers/Super Sentai and other Tokusatsu inspired characters(there is a Kamen Rider like character and two Metal Heroes like ones) fighting enemies.
The story isn't the best but it's fine for what it is, there are two problems though, the crafting system is annoying to the point of i deciding to ignore it and the mecha(it is inspired by Power Rangers/Super Sentai) are basic, but it's fun when it's a team of brightly colored heroes fighting monsters.
Plus it got an update for an episode director option which lets people create their own levels, and make their own dialogue and story for them using the characters available...too bad that so far it's mostly pop culture or meme stuff but hopefully in the future someone decides to try doing something different.
But while Into The Breach isn't exactly life FFT, it's still a great game that is well worth the price(honestly was expecting 19,99 and it still would have been worth that price really, it being cheaper just makes it even better) really.
The second one, not so much. They changed how some classes/monsters looked and removed some of my favorite monsters. Still a really good game, I just didn't get into as much as the first.
Okay, maybe a dozen of those hours in Disgaea are leaving the game to eat, go to the bathroom, etc, but it's still a F-ton of hours. One of my favorite TBS games.
Phantom Brave is also "good", but I couldn't really get into it because, IIRC, to make your units stronger you had to fuse them together to increase their stat cap or something... I name my characters after friends and family members so it felt wrong to destroy them and make them into a new one. It was something like that,
If you liked XCOM: EU battles then Hard West is also fan-freaking-tastic. Great gameplay, loved the story. It's done in chapters where you lose guns, items, and stuff between them, getting a set of characters that might be different than the previous chapters, but it works. I've been meaning to write a recomend review for a while.
My eyes are on this game hehe.
You guys have given me alot of research to do before I make a purchase.
As of right now the Disgaea series is looking like the main contender!
There's multiple endings to shoot for, so reasons to go through the story many times, but there's also the item dungeons. That's dungeons inside items which are randomly genderated levels, and doing them can make the item stronger. And there's a way to increase the level of all enemies in the game by a certain amount, and you can do that many times to grind as much as you want.
I love the voice actors in it too.
PS. I also like this game.
Baertaffy has a video of him playing this I'm watching right now if you want to see what this game is like in action.
