Weapons in Jars at beginning.
hey since you guys know things. how does unlocking weapons work? I buy them and they unlock then and there and i get it once than thats it. I see them in the jars at the beginning of the game next time I die but I dont know how to get a hold of them anymore.

I think you'll start to see them as random drops/spawns and in shops in the game.

if you have unlocked the random melee / shield / ranged upgrades for the start, those weapons you have unlocked will have a chance to drop at the start, otherwise they will show up more often while you play

Me, too. I thought the whole point of collecting and investing cells into unlocking these things was that we'd have them permanently. This has dealt quite a blow to my motivation.

Well, they are unlocked permanently. It's just up to RNG.

The question, “how do you open the jars at the beginning?”, is just as relevant to new players now as it was then.

It’s strange to see these “unlocked” weapons *locked* in jars with no in-game explanation for why you can’t use what you just bought.

No. Any literate being will have noticed the rogue-lite tag multiple times before buying the game. New players know what they're up to.

What if someone doesn't know what that tag means?
What if they wrongly think that in spite of it, hanging jars of weapons would have some intrinsic interactivity?
It can be legitimately confusing for someone.
Gotta account for the fact that this is humans we're dealing with, can't always expect things to go som much as logically, let alsone always correct.

Figuring things out on your own is part of the appeal of the game.
I don't think it is very sensible to spell out every game mechanic just because someone might not get it.
After all, not understanding the relevance of the jars will not inhibit your ability to play the game in any way.

It's also a Metroidvania...

People should do some preliminary research to know what they're getting into. Know what you're spending your money on, and don't get upset when it turns out to be something different.

When a game has a tag like Permadeath, I know it means I reset at the beginning of every game. That's just knowing how games work. Metroidvanias are all about exploring and powering up...combined with Permadeath, you get a perfect description of Dead Cells.

I rest my case.

tl;dr know your stuff lmao

How do permadeath and Metroidvania connect to the jars?

This. Way too many hilarious posts ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on games not knowing what they're all about, or the mechanics of the genre. I can't fathom how people don't do just a bit of research before spending

It's slightly related.

I guess those familiar with the genre can basically 'infer' that you start with new weapons every round. And since most games SHOW that something is breakable with feedback, it's not hard to make the connection that the jars are unbreakable
