well tbh i wouldnt be surprised if they eventually add somekind of actual story or narrative to the game. if they do, you'll most likely get some names etc.

I actually care about some dark souls-ish backstory. id love to know what the blob is, the person who it inhabits, why its always the same person after death, why you never truly die. so many awesome questions.

The only NPC with anything resembling a name at the moment is the Collector. Other than that, the only other names available are those of bosses and monsters which can spawn as Elite variants.

Slugcell Alienman, Young Prince Leoric, The Collector, The Scribbler, Odd Merchant, Fatboy "Ferryman" Slim-ey. At least it's what I call them, for some reason.

Seriously? And how MASSIVE is the story-based game market? How MASSIVE are the literature and cinema markets? We'd care because we find the games smattering of narrative interesting and want more. We'd care because we like characters who are more than empty husks for the player's actions.

I actually don't think it's the same person each time. It seems to me that every time, the blob waits for another person of...this army, I guess? - to be executed, to jump in and bodysnatch the remains. I say army because that would be a sensible explanation for the similar outfits.

The officially unofficial name of the player prisoner was determined to be the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excellent 'Blobespierre.'

Apparently translating from French to English puts his name down as Robespierre which is at least a real name.

Concerning story, a simple way to put a story in would be a mechanic I personally love: Books, finding pages or books throughout the game to complete the lore is one of my favorite ways to read lore. It feels like you have a good reason to read it after going through the trouble to find it.
