exploring wastland for how long

I ones read it was 2.5 days max a dweller could explore the wastland. I now have a dweller walking for 3 days on steam. Is there still a max time?

2.5 days is not max time out in the wasteland. it is the amount of time time needed to start haing more legendary recipr & junk drops.

Max time in the wasteland is when a dwellers inventory is full. Which can be anywhere from 2.5 days to almost 4 days.

Once forgot I had a Dweller out there -- came back 2 days Later, he was Low on Health, but still up, came back with LOOT !! -- today, discovered I had a Bot/Mr. Handy out for over 4 days -- taking over 2 days (1day- 12 hrs+ Left) to come back to vault -- but that Bot has 4200+ Caps !!

the max. a Mr. Handy can carry is 5000 caps - it's returning to the vault then and "saying" its inventory is full.

there is a max carry limit. Your dweller was just unlucky or had low stats.
It may take 1 day or 50, as long as limit is not reached, they won't automatically return.

It's not necessarily a "max" limit but once your exploring dweller has 100 or more items they'll automatically return.

100 items isn't really a "maximum" because you can exceed that under the right circumstances. It takes being very close to 100 and having a random explore quest pop up for that dweller.

If the items you get in the explore quest take you over 100 then you'll still keep them all and your dweller will return because they're at 100 or more.
