square with either / or \ and a +/- number is the grade
square with /\ means next speed limit will be higher
square with \/ means next speed limit will be lower
basically, the grade will be the same, but the track portion might have more dangerous turns (\/), or be straighter (/\)

There was a booklet in game talking about the basics of railroad in the valley, but somehow it was removed and no replacement is added yet.
Well, Well, Guess I should have read the whole manual. My bad. I just hopped in and GO! lol. I remember in an older version of DRV the manual was mentioned. Just didn't go looking for it. I just went and...frequently derailed. Guess if I see a sign for lower speed ahead I will start braking early and maybe avoid some derailments. :)
The new full manual is the replacement. What's missing is that the new tutorial doesn't refer to it yet, so most players aren't aware of its existence, but that will be fixed soon.
