Please consider: Ranger Aim & Racial traits
Dear Devs,

Please do consider giving Ranger an Aim ability (with first person zoom & less sensitive control), it would make the class useful in a unique way. Right now Ranger feels like a drag observing the melee slaughter.*

Also please consider granting different small bonuses for the races, to make this user choice meaningful. For example: HP for orcs, movement speed for elf, XP for humans... I believe players would love to brood over which race should they pick.

Love your game, it has soo much potential!

*P.S.: I know some pro players got good with ranged classes, but casual players are also in your targeted market, reaching them would also increase your sales.

Regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the discussion. You can turn on a ranged aimed assist dot in the game menu. Ranger's also have an ability called Deadly Shot that provides zoom functionality and increased range.

As for racial bonuses, it's something we've discussed, but as others pointed out, we want to maintain the freedom of playing the race you want. If we did add them, it would be as tankanidis suggested, and something you could pick independent of a racial choice.

Yes, racial perks are really needed. It's strange to see a dungeon crawler where races are basically skins. I'm not even sure that body size/height affects your hitbox.

the reason there's no perks on the races is to ensure you look the way you want to without feeling forced to 'meta' game, min/max by picking the 'best' race for the class you want to play

I'm happy with my human rogue

edit: the racial features only work if you can freely choose between them for your race

ie.

1) pick race - eg. human
2) pick 'bonus' - movement speed

Thank you for your answer, much appreciated! Looking forward obtaining Deadly Shot, it seems I have depths yet to experience!

Dear Trup,

I recently got Deadly Shot ability, and it really was the zoom I was looking for. My only concern is that the sensitivity setting does not change during zoom, so it is near impossible to aim with Xbox controller. I had to tinker with Steam controller settings (mode change for 50% sensitivity if LB is pressed), which solved the issue for me, but please consider implementing lower sensitivity during zoom into the game.

Keep up the fantastic work, best regards!

Wait... the ranger CAN'T AIM like how every other game does it without a special skill? Am I reading that right?

Hold down the button until you are ready to fire, you can move around while zoomed as long as you hold the button down

All Melee/Range skills target the dot (you can enable it in options) in the middle of your viewing screen

Ranger also has a sniper skill that allows it to heavily zoom in (and hold the zoom and move while holding down the button) for the skill before releasing it

You can turn on the dots in options menu

Hi, same thing as he said about the potential of the game, it definitely has a lot of potential.

Racial traits is nice to have but I would advise not to have them impact that much if you add them, just something that is only "nice to have", not specifically stats like HP, speed movement. Maybe just weapon proficiency, crafting skills regarding classes or races. Or bonuses WITH penalties coming with them. So there would be some kind of trade-off to think about if we wanted to make a hero with bonuses.

I follow your point however, to me it's far better without them.

Yes, I know this. It's a "dot" you can barely see. And my screen is 42".

I think such aiming is a horrible idea for melee skills, especially against small or fast moving enemies.

It's annoying to kill flame hounds/imps up close in melee on anything human or taller (have to aim camera down / backpedal to be able to hit them)
