I could careless about a persons "soft skills" because if I bought games base on the morals/opinions of the devs themselves, I would not have a game to my name.
You will be surprised how many games you own that are made by devs who are probably terrible people, but as long as that terrible personality does not bleed through to their product, who cares?
Their response was firm, and came off as a developer defending a product they have some amount of passion for against nasty accusations. I mean really, they didn't even stoop to name calling, the worst they did was accused the consumer of lying and only posting their review out of personal disdain for the development team.
If anything I unironically have more respect for this dev team then I did before being notified about this; now that I know that they've failed in the past to produce something using the same assets with potentially a similar theme, and chose to try again instead of just giving up on development, is very respectable in my eyes.
This also is the type of situation you can't immediately judge a dev for; if the person IS lying, the dev has a right to be annoyed and respond in kind, and if the consumer is being truthful then the developers are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for getting defensive against the truth.
But, it's your money, enjoy purchasing your video games based on who has "soft skills" and not based on who actually has a spine and defends their creation from people seeking to smear it's reputation.
If so that settles things for anyone who had issue in the past as they can still play this version and did not lose their investment due to the free copy handed forward
It's also $10 on release... they are not trying to dupe anyone. It's a budget title and fun so far for me.
A cash grab is an asset flip with no work / game doesn't function
This game functions. It has 8 dungeons, 3 difficulties, lots of loot, paragon skill system with heroism and i got 23 hours out of it so far with 13.70+AUD purchase
For me that's a good game to buy
You can always try it out for 2 hours and refund it if you don't like it, but to say there's nothing to do without playing it first is speaking without experience
I just wanted to chime in on a few things. Regarding Kings and Heroes, the primary reason it was shut down is because it was a hosted mmo type of online server and we did not have the player base to warrant continued support. We were really excited about the direction of Kings and Heroes, but it was a bit beyond our grasp as a small indie studio. Dungeons of Sundaria is a peer to peer game when playing coop, and so it will be available to play with friends regardless of what happens to us.
For the majority of people that played Kings and Heroes, running dungeons was the primary activity players were engaged with. Dungeons of Sundaria took that experience and expanded upon it to what you see today. And as other people have pointed out, anyone that purchased Kings and Heroes received a free copy of Dungeons of Sundaria.
