Is adol required? (minor spoilers to ys8)

Adol was super broken in ys 8, so there was no reason to remove him, but in this game I'm liking the play style of the three girls. I still bring adol now cause I know the other games forces adol on you later on.

Like spoilers the final fight of ys 8 even have you missing a particular party member and I made the mistake of giving said character all my elixirs.

This game is relatively far easier than others due to certain mechanics used and how easy it is to flash guard and flash dodge attacks and even spam it repeatingly to build up your special attack within a single guard.

Generally in the party system Ys games I always stick to Adol and have never had an issue.

That doesn't answer the question though.

I need to know in advance, because removing adol makes him gain less exp and I don't get to level his skills. If I'm forced to use him later on I'd be in a disadvantage, a very big one considering I'm playing on nightmare.

I already explained my reasoning for wanting to remove him.

I wouldn't worry about that, the last boss is a joke and on nightmare it felt super easy. I did have the ultimte weapon with Adol, but from the way it felt i could have just used the second best weapon and be fine.

Adol isn't particularly broken in this game. He has some really useful stuff lategame especially with post-game weapons and later skills, but he's not necessary to have in the party for pretty much any part of the game outside of when he's one of only 3 available characters and the veeeeery endgame.
