Any way to actually play Solo?

As in, if the character I am playing as dies, it is game over?
Ys VIII had this feature added in the PS4 version.

If I can't do it normally, is there any way I can mod this game to reduce the party size or something?

The bosses look 100x better in this game than in Ys VIII and I really wanna play it.
I can't unless I can play solo though, because I know it will be too easy otherwise.

Unless you could mod the game there's no way to play solo (unless you manage to kill your allies in each screen but it would quickly become a chore)

I thought there'd be some mod out there or something.

Such a shame, because this game looked really good.
I really hope the new PS4 Kai version will include the ability to play Solo, just like the PS4 version of Ys VIII did.
Probably not, but I would think it'd be near effortless, so I pray they add it in, or there is some way to mod it with Save Wizard to allow Solo play.

Unlike Ys Seven, the AI doesn't attack anything (other than harvest points) if they are set to "Evasive" mode. As such, it's almost like playing solo (it's also kind of necessary on Nightmare to an extent since the AI doesn't seem to dodge all that well in "Attack" mode). But as noted, there isn't any real Solo-Mode.
