Japanese audio

SECOND UPDATE: The Japanese audio is available on the internet. Go to page 6 to find out where. Still would have been cool to have language options, but it's pretty much all good now.

UPDATE: Hey I thought this was fully voiced like Ys VIII but I'm wrong and dumb. Still would be cool to have the original audio, but I guess it isn't super necessary. I'm an idiot.

Oh another one of these threads. Where we repeat the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ complaints, even though the answers have been freely available since forever (including common sense), yet people choose to cherry pick their memories and continue the nonsense.

To be fair, Xseed has been vague about the reasons, they said the couldn't include the japanese audio and that they wanted to, but not much details has been given (and make sense as agreement are usually private). But I don't see nothing wrong in wondering what those reasons are and if there is a price or not that could make that happens.

I believe voice contract license didn't include US/EU region usage is true for old Falcom game.

Bringing ♥♥♥ voice to the west meant they need to renegotiate and renewing the contract with the voice actor agencies. I'm sure the amount of voice actor agencies they need to renegotiate not just one or two agencies, and that's not free. It's even not guaranteed the negotiation going smoothly for all voice actor agency. The voice actor agencies may demand high additional fee that doesn't make sense or simply not willing to do it at all.

Technically XSEED can do it, but I'm not sure they have enough manpower to do that menial job, moreover it's must be done in Japan. Cost-revenue wise also not very feasible. Old game can't be sold at full price, or they can sell it at full price but in unpopular console (PS3/PSV for ColdSteel), not counting high risk to not being able to get all voice license (it's not fun if only partial is voiced in Japanese). Unless Falcom do the negotiation in the front it can't be helped.

To be fair XSEED also have good track records to release game with Japanese voice over whenever possible, but for Falcom game it's a no go (Mastif's Gurumin also same having no ♥♥♥). For Tokyo Xanadu and YS8, a couple years ago Falcom clearly stated that they want to penetrated western market, so for newer game it's likely US/EU region is included in the contract by default. We should questioning it again if somehow Cold Steel III still have no ♥♥♥ voice.

In that case, it could also be an issue of all three games being signed under the same contract prior to its release (i.e. making the VA's bound to appear in all three games under whatever terms and conditions they signed on for).

Yeah, it should be taken into account that that’s the third part of a setseries with the same voice actors and agencies that clearly already denied things for the first two games. Not sure how or why that should raise any flags.

they havent put it on the welcome thread yet but it has been posted in the ys 7 pc thread by leto. just control+f and search "undub patch" and you should find it easily, the patch (folder with the japanese audio files) has been uploaded to zippyshare.

It's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t to not include it in the release. When someone has a mod to fix the game by giving it the original audio please let me know. Thanks.
