I think Carissa is one of the most broken characters though because you can just make your block chance unbelievable high and never be hit physically. Throw some lifesteal on your weapon and you are just never going to die.
FYI - I just completed the game on Hard without letting any puppets die.
I did not get to test out Shadowhand at all (mainly because that character has no achievement associated with him and Draconian did). I know he is a melee assassin, but couldn't tell you what his skill set is.
You could easily make a save right before the fight in the imperial tomb with Shadowhand as Draconian is a fight like a minute later from Shadowhand. And just test each character out and see how they feel.
I also dont use Urshak sana Sebekan. If the developer keeps developing game like this, my one true wish is where I can switch between 9 puppets at once. It will be fun.
Zaar does more damage than Carissa, he just more vulnerable to burst so you gotta be more careful to follow the law of Zaar.
Go draconian over shadowhand if you want your game to go to super easy mode. Otherwise I would say still go draconian so you get an extra tomb but don't use him/her? as shadow hand is also garbage like wasp.
1. Urshak - very high DPS, fun abilities, mobile and fast. Could be your best buddy in some situations but very weak by health. In late game most eneimes will kill him with 1 shot.
2. Zaar - Well... best character for 2nd role. Some his skills make him a total war machine but also he has a few support skills. He is your best character in mid-game; also because of his quest-line.
3. Wasp - it's not THAT bad, okay? But let's be honest - it's not very usefull when we have some other characters below...
4. Wooden Elemental - absolutely the same. You can upgrade him good but still there's other much more usefull characters.
5. Darius - top "mid-tier". Situational abilities, but high dps and surviving. Very usefull skills as combo with such Megalodons as Carissa, Kalig and Zaar. With right build - top buddy in the world.
6. Carissa - most overrated character in the game. She has just one skill that make her monster - her last ability "Iron Lady". That's it. That skill make her a "Panzer Division Marduk". Best buddy for combo with anyone.
7. Necromancer (dlc) - best mage in the game because of his self-sufficiency. He has a summon skill, stun, AOE-life steal, AOE nuke and some other support abilities. Not best companion for doing maximum damage but ver effective in every situation.
8. Chromaton - I found hm fun and usefull. But mostly for first part of the game. Unlikly you would use him than Carissa or Darius. Sebekan and Necromancer is far more usefull/
9. Sebekan - best magic-dps in game. But requires some gear and someone to avoid damage after deal his cast.
10. Falona - my less favorite character. Okay dps, good abilities. But hell she is weak with HP. I used her only for story-lines nowhere else.
11. Iron Zombie - pretty good character for early and mid-game. I found him usefull in some situations. Also he is only one who can crush sealed gates =) Good support-tank - nothing more.
12. Shadowhand - shame that we got him such late what make him not very usefull. Well, it's possible to upgrade him with right gear and also in some situations he is very good btw. But I would prefer Drakonian. "Why?" below...
13. Drakonian - most situational puppet in the game. He has such broken abilities but with right gear and build - it is best support in the game. He is not about dps but about his abilities.
Remember - it is only my own opinion. Every character in that game could be imbalanced when you upgrade him good for a certain situations.
1. Urshak is decent and very good at the start but like you said very weak in hp which is noticeable on hardest setting as he can easily be oneshot if not careful. He also gets drained of mana very quickly and unlike mages its harder to invest in more mana regen on hunters.
2. Zaar is easily the best in the game for attacking damage due to duel wielding and having highest attack speed and life steal. He is just very vulnerable to burst on the two hardest difficulties so Carissa ends up providing more in a similar role though you can use both to great effect.
3. Wasp really is that bad. It's a weak damage melee made of paper with horrible attack animations that lock you in place for ages.
4. Wood ele is also not great but he has more uses than wasp like the ability to heal. Still a low tier puppet.
5. Darius is decent all rounder similar to Carissa but slightly worse than her at the same role. Still a good choice.
6. Carissa is overall the best puppet in the game as and all rounder, She can do everything well other than self sustain but if you add lifesteal to her equipment she does that also because her damage is high. If you think otherwise you used her wrong as she does 2nd best damage in the game whilst being the most tanky as well. She also has a stun in a forward line that hits quite hard.
7. Necro damage is actually quite weak to other mages like Evia or Sebekan but he does have 2nd best self sustain that is at range (only zaar has better with very high lifesteal and hes melee) which can be useful on highest difficulty though ofc useless if you get one shot by something. His stun is nice though.
8. Chromo is 1st character you get that can stun very early which is useful so yes like you said hes decent early but falls off quickly so mostly weak and his damage is poor.
9. Sebekan is strongest burst damage mage (basically he is fire spells and swap character till cool downs are back), more damage than evia if you pick her at beginning but she has the golem to tank some damage and some other ok def abilities so she has more supportive stuff to help out where as seb is all about the juicy burst damage. He is a solid choice if running 2 mages.
10. Falon is basically just a weaker version Urshak without the mobility you get later and is pretty useless at that point.
11. IZ like you said he is good early + relatively tanky but he falls off later when you get better characters and is very slow. Out classed by Carissa or Darius in tankyness.
12. Shadow hand arrives too late and by then you all ready have your line up of best characters to choose from whilst he is not providing anything that's competitive + the game is nearly over. If he came earlier you might get some use out of him but it doesn't happen. This is why I rate him so poorly, especially when your other option is Drac.
13. Drac like Shadow Hand you get so late it doesn't matter much as the game is almost over but he is the most broken puppet in the game due to his time stop and reset cool down abilities.
My order would be (excluding the starter puppets) from broken op to total rubbish.
Drac>Carissa>Zaar>Darius>Sebekan>Necro>Urshak>IZ>Chromo>Wood Ele>Falon>ShadowHand>Wasp.
Starting puppets from best to worst is.
Evia>Kalig>Jasker.
Kalig is actually quite good as well as a starter puppet but Evia wins out because the game has less mages available than others for a long time and this puppet is locked to the party for pretty much the entire game just like the Devourer. Jasker is about same level as Falon.
In the end though it depends on what difficulty you play on that really shows what puppets are bad mediocre strong or op. Even wasp looks ok on easiest difficulty for example.
I would disagree about Necromancer - with Evia-Necro-Draco I've killed Lady Mara with absolutely no problem at all. When you lvlup your mages only for intelligence their abilities became tooooo strong. As I said - Necro isn't best mage for DPS, but best mage for self sufficient in combo with anyone. On Extreme difficulty of course.
This is more abusing Dracs power though than Necro being good (though he isn't a bad puppet). I mean stopping time you could of just powered up carissa or zaar and killed her in a few secs with no risk as well. Being able to timestop do everything and reset all the cooldowns and do it again is just broken. Its why i said in 2020 that puppet is basically easymode (almost cheating) because its so broken op.
My tactics was only around "Tornado-Meteor" and something for desert. Basically Necro is very powerful with his AOE spell, lifesteal and summoning all others depends by situation.
Yes I agree - at many moments Carissa is best because of "Iron Lady" spell. But that doesn't mean that she is only one to use. With right build many other characters can be useful and powerful as Carissa or even stronger.
Ofc you can use others to win still (except wasp xd ). But this is just a list of best to worst. It doesn't mean all the others aren't viable or you have to use carissa in your lineup but she is the strongest all round puppet other than broken drac that destroys the game balance.
And don't forget - each player would find his personal build and favorite characters. So our discussion is only about each other's opinions =)
It's quite simple really. She does everything very well which is why she is 2nd best character in the list (except self sustain but that is easily fixed with lifesteal on gear or via other means). Her damage when you buff her up from rest of party as a attacker is 2nd strongest in the game behind zaar whilst being practically immortal as well. This damage will kill anything in the game very quickly and she is at no risk of dying. The only character that trumps all this is drac because of his abilities that enable any party setup heavily.
it's not about picking favourites here but recognising the character's strengths vs each other. Carissa just has to much which is why she is where she is on the list. if i was just picking favourites then i would put drac at the bottam because i view it as gamebreaking and zaar at the top because he is my favourite.
I never got to play the lion of cornwelth darius because booba(didn't want to replace carisa and forsake falons booba too) but one look on his skill tree and the math suggest he must have way higher dps than carissa if built like a mage extremely high will rather than strength... The two characters skills are almost mirror with the exception that darius arrow volley has multiple hits marking it nearly twice as much damage compared to carisas mirror skill albeit carissa skill has stun on hers and the list goes on. But like I said I never tested it but math never lies >< darius must have way higher damage per sec than Carissa because of higher damage values, mirror cooldowns and 2 handed weapon.
Funny enough I really think the mages are indeed broken because you could just swap skill mid fight use their abundantly effective shields spells while still shooting out all of those level 13? skills and what not. Though warrior/hunter run but enlightened of how strong will talents is somewhat eye opening because of their lower mana consumption short cooldowns and their capability to bonk enemies and deal decent damage.
Also I'm reviving this thread because I want answers ><
