Is this a good ARPG like PoE or Diablo 2
Hey everyone. I like to play a lot Path of Exile and Diablo 2/3.
I read in this Game it is not possible to grind some stuff because the enemy are not respawn. Also there should be no Endgame after finish the Story.
Is this true?

Is this Game more like "Victor Vran ARPG" or what is the nearest ARPG you like to think?

It's pretty different from the standard diablo-like ARPG.
It's much less "action" and considerably more "RPG" than the standard of the formula.

It's slower paced, with more puzzles, more decisions, characters, a party system of sorts, etc. It's not a loot grinding game, it's a cRPG that happens to have action combat.

I'm really enjoying it for what it is, feels like a nice and original take on the genre.

it seems like Path of exile , diablo and grim dawn but its completely different. theres only the story side of that games, it lacks the endgame/grinding/replayability part
i think the developers misunderstood what people want from this genre.

While this is an ARPG through-and-through, it is quite a different kind of game than PoE or Diablo. That doesn't mean it's not good (for me, it is one of the most refreshing ARPGs in a long time).

The focus is not on grinding and repetitive loot-hunt, but rather on actual RPG mechanics. Note that the action part of ARPG is there and quite solid, but the Skinner-box mechanics are not.
There's an actual story, dialogue choices (with some "choice-and-consequence") and even a simple karma system. There's not much focus on grinding (e.g. no respawning of enemies, no over-the-top loot piñatas), but rather on replayability (to test the different main characters, try out different character combos, find the different endings and solutions to quests, etc.).

For me, this is a lot better than the traditional formula - I've had it with Skinner Box game design (though I'll admit I enjoy Grim Dawn quite a lot). Your mileage may vary.

So is it more like Pillars of Eternity and Divinity Original Sin?

Mmm.. I'd say it's pretty different to those, which are traditional RPGs (party based, with a heavy focus on narrative and tactics instead of action).

Shadows is definitely an ARPG (with a focus on the action part), although it has stronger narrative elements and less grinding than usual for the genre (so in a way it IS a bit closer to traditional RPGs, but not really comparable).

Do I need to play the game before this one to understand it or can I just start with Awakening?

The story of Kult/The Inquisition sets up the plot for this one but it isn't necessary to play it to understand what's going on here. Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms is an earlier (unfinished) release of this game, so can and should be skipped entirely.

If you want a really good ARPG you should try Grim Dawn.

This is a good game with some real innovation to genre.

(I know this is old.) Except they took away what makes the genre successful which is farming for better loot. You are at the mercy of RNG through your entire run as enemies don't respawn so you can't farm for better gear. There is really no point to random drops if you can't farm drops. Might as well have had static drops instead.
