So...mages...
I started of with Evia and I thought I was doing well. By level 6, with 50 willpower, my flame breath lvl2 was doing ~ 151 dmg on 10 sec cooldown. Then I got a warrior soul which can do that damage just with autoattacks, with just ~30 STR. Makes me wonder, what's the point of mages then? Are they more of a support role in this game?

I imagine the mages are for people who like mages. I also started with Evia and have since picked up 3 warriors. I still play as Evia 90% of the time.

Same, but she feels weaker than warriors most of the time. Same with hunters and agility - no point in picking that stat ever

I found mage to be pretty good for the sand golem. It becomes a better and longer alternative to freeze.

Sand Golem + Multishot from the archer, freeze boss in between; you're going to be downing mobs pretty fast

It depends on difficulty, I find. Melee characters like all of the warriors suffer much more heavily from higher difficulties. They can't reliably avoid damage, while mages and archers can kite most enemies and dodge projectiles more easily.

I haven't played Evia specifically yet, but some of the later mage souls are pretty good and tend to outperform my Kalig just because they take less damage by blasting everything before they get touched. I almost never use him anymore.

Edit: Also, remember that one thing this game intends for you to do is swap puppets regularly. Mages tend to have stronger skills than warriors, who have better autoattacks. You can use a mage's spells and then swap to a warrior or archer to use their attacks.

Edit 2: Also, primary stat doesn't seem to actually mean anything. Strength is the stat to boost autoattacks, regardless of your class. If you want Evia to blast people better with her staff, you can boost strength.

Evia is pretty strong in my opinion with her sandgolem and meteor she can kill most of the mobs easily and on extreme its pretty good to be out of range

sandgolem is doing very low damage, what's the point of it other than attract some mobs? The wolf pack deals way more dmg

The way i used my mages was to flash them in to spam their skills and then swap back to my autoattack hero.

Mages do get powerspikes whenever their skills rank up. So while Evia seems weak'ish now, after her next skill level that might change.

Btw Sebekan(lizard mage) is really good. Not only do his skills do nice aoe damage and are very fast to cast but they also have stun and freeze properties. Needless to say that AoE crowd control is really powerfull.

How do you increase a mage's basic attack damage? Adding Strength or adding Willpower? Or nothing?
