If you don't mind, could you see if this issue occurs if you disconnect your mouse? I think (guessing here) it could be related to that. A quick search of the Steam Home Streaming discussions showed up some other games exhibiting similar behaviour (Minecraft, BioShock Infinite).
If you let me know that is indeed the case, I can pass the info onto the team and we can look into a fix on our end. :)
One more thing I forgot to mention: "spinning" does not occur when character is in the water (swimming).
I will let you know how it went with mouse diconnected in serveral hours.
You were right! Disconnecting mouse from the host PC fixed the problem - no more spinning! Mouse can still be connected to the receving pc (that one which is connected to the TV) though.
One more info for the devs - the problem does not always show up instantly, today I needed to play for about 15 minutes until the spinning thing started. Disconnecting mouse from host stopped spinning.
At least I have some workaround for now, thanks for help!
I don't know what happened but mouse trick no longer helps.
I didn't played much (my kid was, he does not disconnect mouse, he is playing sandbox and using respawn) , so I don't know if before if was just an accident or if it really helped.
So for now I cannot stop spinning no matter what I do.
EDIT: video to demostrate the issue: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1579301948
Skip to 1:25 to see it in water.
@Bojangle - Any feedback from the devs? This camera is driving me crazy....
Btw. my kid discovered today, that if you "fight" the spining long enough with a mouse (and it is _really_ long) it eventually will stop. But only until you get in vehicle and get out again. Then it starts spinning again.
Maybe there is a way to disable mouselook while walking ? Or can you make it work the same way like while driving or swimming?
It's logged internally and upon speaking to the programmers, this exact issue also happens when people work from home and use remote desktop, so I can say it IS something we'll fix but I can't give you an ETA right now.
Happy holidays!
