Interestingly enough, Hello Games gives nothing BUT free updates to one of their games, No Man's Sky. All their income comes from new sales of the game.
It’s also on 3 platforms, so it needs no further income. That’s what I read from the dev

with how much no mans sky has sold and keeps selling this is earnestly a very very very very silly comparison.
The reason no mans sky can keep outputting free updates is partially to live down their launch but also because they made so much money they could afford to float such a things for alot longer.
Like... comparing no mans sky and trail makers is like comparing a company like walmart to a regional chain... like both are doing good but they are one totally different levels of resources.
