So far, all I know is the .tms files in Documents>Trailmakers>SaveGames are actually .gz archives, which when extracted show some legible information. Problem is that it seems anything you'd want to edit is obfuscated, so you need to figure out how they've encrypted that, then decrypt it. Let alone any measures they probably have to detect save file manipulation, so you'd have to figure out how to change those to fit as well.
they are compressed binary files. You won't be able to modify them without breaking them unless you know very well what you are doing

Edit: To clarify, after extracting the files as .gz archives, the result is a file with what appear to be ~600 UUIDs, some human readable text, and a large blob of data in the middle. I assume the data I'd want to edit is in this blob, and I've had no luck with it so far.

If I manage to decode/decipher/decompress this, I'll update

Edit 2: Tried isolating the obfuscated parts and extracting as .bin, but that didn't work. I would assume it's encrypted, and without a key, there won't be much I can do. Unless someone goes digging into the game files and finds the encryption key, we probably won't be able to edit the save files.

So is this a solved process (Specific tools, known encryption/decryption key), or would I have to figure this out myself?

I don't understand why ignition berries are so hard to get compared to other materials.
there are such large open areas, and to traverse them you need speed, and to get speed you need engine power, and engine power requires ignition berries, which are really annoying to get..

it used to work for coins but if u try doing it with materials it bugs out
I hope this isn't yet another case of artificial difficulty rearing its ugly head yet again, as it's a different game, same method…

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that they gimped out a resource to pad out the gameplay for the MMO; unfortunately as it stands us single-players have to play the grind-fest too, I mean I do envy MMO players as they can cut through farming a lot quicker I'd imagine, as they're doing it together as friends so it makes the time fly!

But yeah, I don't do MMOs personally, yet would not condemn those that do… Having said that, they're still boring as muck to play through alone, so they should have two distinct modes, classic, and the farming grind spots simulator that they have now… :steambored:

However, it should be mentioned that they're not yet done with this game, and they'll open up pioneer's world into the sandbox, although I would still have to play through the game, in order not to spoil it for myself!

Plus, they'll have difficulty modes, which is extremely wise, as it considers the entire internet community not just the elite-tiered players from discord/forums, so they can feel free to make the modes as punishing, and brutal as they desire while leaving the average gamer, like me, as well as the story player's game intact…

It still works, just in a weird way, atleast for materials

after some digging i found the c# that encrypts and decrypts the save, but the key doesn't seem to be stored in plain text anywhere

FYI, that's against the EULA
