Skipping the tutorial
Hi!
I can't seem to find any way to skip the tutorial. If you happen to know any way to skip past it, I'd love to know. (It annoys me greatly)

There doesn't seem to be any way to skip it from within the game (please do tell me if I'm wrong), but I'm hoping I could still skip past it by editing a file or two or importing a save or something along those lines.

Any ideas?
Thanks for your time ^^

P.S.
I know I've now probably spent more time trying to find a way around this tutorial than doing it would have taken me, but I won't do it and you can't make me :P

Sadly I won't be playing the tutorial.
I imagine if the tutorial only needs to be played once, there's some value in the player's save or profile or whatever that gets changed such that the tutorial isn't innitiated. I'm looking for a solution like importing or editing a save, such that I can play the game without having to go through the tutorial.

I'll look around for a bit, but if I can't find a solution anywhere soon-ish, I'll just play something else. :)
There isn't. The data is tied to your online profile. Again, it takes 1-2 minutes to do the tutorial, it likely took you more time to write that reply than it would have taken to do the tutorial. There is very little reason to want to skip it

you can't skip it, but it should take 1-2 minutes to finish. You just need to build a 10 blocks vehicle

Hi again
I imagine it's frustrating to see someone decline an experience you're fond of, but I will not be playing a forced tutorial. Sorry.

If you'd like to know my reasons, I'll gladly give you them.
For now I'll move on to other similar or different games without forced tutorials.

Thank you for the quick replies and the information! I really appreciate it!

I never get why people talk like tutorials are pure torture, it's like a 1 time 2 min thing just do it, you can do the whole thing while holding your breath.
(edit) I went to do the tutorial just to see how quick I could do it and it's literally unavailable after you do it

I understand it can seem a little strange, but it's not really about the length of time for me, as much as it taking any time at all. I see the value I can get out of playing Trailmakers as close to fungible and I see it as being close to the value I can get out of playing a game like Besiege (just one example of a game that is very similar and probably similar amounts of fun to play).

This forced tutorial is my first impression of the game and it feels like a middle finger pointed in my direction. It just feels incredibly rude to me.
It reminds me of single-player Minecraft maps where commands are disabled. There's just no need I can justify to put roadblocks like that in a game when it requires effort to do so.
These things hinder me in exploring the game/map and having fun with it, all because someone decided I need to know how to play the game right to play it at all.

No game requires the tutorial to be mandatory. If something is unclear or you want more information, having the option of playing a tutorial is fantastic. I would go as far as to say being greeted with a tutorial on startup is great!

I don't see this game as valuable or original enough to justify sitting through the arbitrary roadblock that is the forced tutorial. I can just as well spend my time and money elsewhere and I'll have spent the 2 minutes waiting for a different game to be downloaded instead. (or I can simply do something else in that time)

I understand this can come across as quite harsh on the devs, who undoubtedly poured their hearts into this game and worked very hard on making it enjoyable. As any game on this platform however, it must compete for my time and money to actually be played by me. There are plenty of other games and devs that undoubtedly deserve far better than what little investment I can afford to give them at the moment, so I'll just have to pick and choose.

I hope this clears things up a little for you guys.
Maybe you think it's weird and that's fine.
If you believe I'm wrong, do let me know and please let me know why.
You may well be able to change my mind if you're willing to try. :)

the tutorial doesn't teach you how to play the game right, it teaches you how to play at all. It's there only to avoid people being confussed about the basic controls (in this case, camera controls, placing/rotating blocks, and saving creations, all of which you need to know to be able to do basically anything in a building game), which is a much worse experience than a short tutorial about them. Pretty much any game that's out of early access (early access games aren't finished, so things like a tutorial are less important than missing core features) has a tutorial for that reason. Pretty much the only case in which you might want to skip a tutorial about basic controls/mechanics is for replayability if you have already played the game, but in this game that's handled automatically by tracking separately the completed tutorial flag and the campaign save data

You took the time to buy the game, download it, and then complained about the simple tutorial, and will never play it again. I didn't even have one, you can literally just press the auto-build button instead. This just seems like rage bait to me, when you saw it caught on, you kept going. I understand that some games have like 20 min tutorials, but this is comical how against tutorials you are, literally taking the time to post all of this takes away from "what little investment you can afford to give them at the moment." This is coming of harsher than I am probably meaning too, but you are being oppressive to yourself, by limiting your game options because of tutorials. This game, and undoubtedly many others are worth the time that you would put in. I think I am so mad because it seems wasteful, and I get that this is virtual, so the only thing wasted is your money, but at least try to come back and try this, and any other game you have abandoned for this reason. I imagine you have seen some videos besides the trailers, and you have seen the possibilities, so is a minute long tutorial really isn't that bad in all reality. If you think about it, you spend probably 20x that daily sitting in a car with nothing to do, is that not oppressive too, yet you can do it, just like playing a tutorial.

bro spent more time yapping about how they hate doing a 2 min tutorial than actually spending the time doing the tutorial lmao
