How do I get past this stupid windy road?
I don't know if I'm missing a block or something. It's the one right after you get the mini thruster. I can't even comprehend what kind of vehicle you could build that wouldn't end up wildly out of control.

Make it as small as possible, put the thrusters around so you can use them to fight the wind. You should have aerodynamic blocks by now, so put them around the vehicle on the sides where the wind hits it.

I tried all that but it was useless. I could stop myself from flying off but I couldn't turn. If I had to add thrusters to slow myself and turn then the vehicle would be gigantic with aerodynamics and probably wouldn't turn anyways.

What I ended up doing is going backwards because the breaking with tires is much better that way then I turned and used thrust.

Good job on finally getting past it :)

Not to necro a 'solved' thread, but I could do with some more explanation on how these curved blocks work... I'm guessing it's any face the wind hits causing drag? but even when I'm covering every vertical surface (within reason) with these things, I can't seem to get any difference to my cube on wheels :S

Better to bring back an old thread and continue the discussion instead of starting a new thread about the same thing :)

The way those blocks work (if i understand them correctly) is the curvy portion has reduced drag. So let's say you have a frame that is one block high. You line a side of it with those aero blocks pointed 'out' with their curvy sides toward where the wind will be coming from and that will reduce wind's push force on the frame.

I will work on a video that better explains that stuff, but hopefuly this was enough to make it a little more clear.

Thank you very much Agent West. That's a good start.

So, if I'm getting this right, my vehicle:
}____|
o--o--`#

will work better with the curved blocks on the areas the wind will hit (front):
}____)
o--o--`)

Yeah, I know it's not exactly a picasso, but I'm sure you get the idea...

I'll be looking for videos the rest of the night now I have some more free time hahaa.
Thank you again!

I used 3 jet engines all pointing to the right to push myself around that corner.
404_Not_Found Jan 31, 2019 @ 6:27pm
I don't have enough power cores to use 3 jet engines or I would out of sheer anger and frustration.

I've tried everything, including using those round blocks on all sides, and the wind still causes me to careen off the edge. I don't know what build the game wants here but I can't even walk across without getting flung.

Edit: It looks like the stupid corner has a gust of wind coming out of it that's keeping me from turning the corner. I've got no idea how I'm supposed to pass this segment because it's disallowing me to turn left even though I'm surrounded by curved blocks.

What jet engines do you guys have? And how many power cores?

I have 6 power cores total and the first jet engine as well as a mini thruster. I have 2 aerodynamic bricks (the 1x2 and the 2x4) and 3 kinds of normal engine.

Same as 404 here, only I havn't got the mini thruster yet, just the RAW.

Still working on a video that goes into detail on that, but for now here are a couple of screenshots:

Once you get up the wind tower there will be the first road with a strong cross-wind. A six-core solution with no jets is something like this:

For the next part where it's a long stretch with a sharp left turn at the end replace one of the engines with blocks (to free up power cores) and replace two vertical aero blocks on either side of the seat with up-firing small thrusters that you have just unlocked, one on each side. Toggle them on and proceed down the road while holding the reverse button (S) to keep your vehicle's speed somewhat under control. Do keep in mind that the wind is much stronger once you go over the hill. Turn a little bit before the corner and go full power forward. The wind will carry the vehicle sideways but the road is wide enough to get out of the wind before the vehicle is blown off.

Thank you Agent West!
That was just the inspiration I needed! I've passed the tunnel and here's the delightful brick I drove to do it.
Single dragon engine, spoiler (from a previous area) and no thrusters at all.

"delightful brick" lol
How's the lava zone going?
404_Not_Found Feb 2, 2019 @ 6:20pm
Alright, I can't do it.

I tried copying the blueprints above and I STILL can't do it.

This is what I made and it's hard as hell to steer, doesn't turn when I get to that point for some reason, and the booster on top was a later addition to deal with that design flaw that didn't work either. >_<

This is beyond frustrating. I don't know what it wants from me but I've been stuck here for HOURS trying to figure it out.
