Suspensions much too weak
This is a fun game with a lot of potential, but like any early access game(and games in general) it has a few flaws. One of the biggest flaws I see with ground vehicles, is the suspension systems are way too weak. Ive built mutiple test vehicles, with both suspension types and different wheel types.

Even going at low speeds and trying to land as flat as possible, almost any ramp in game with shatter both suspension types on landing. Its as if the suspension systems are made of plastic instead of metal. I have also tried different settings on the stiffness and damping, vehicle weights, and the results are basically the same. The suspensions are so weak they just shatter even with a slow weak jump and flat landing. Even a "successful" jump involves multiple suspension parts breaking.

Until the suspension systems are beefed up so they can actually take a ramp landing, they are broken as far as ramps go. I dont think we should have to put rockets or propellers on a vehicle just to make a small jump, bigger jumps yes small no.

if you get the suspension right they work astoundingly well, but i have to agree that you shouldn't have to put mor work into the suspension than the car to make it work good

After much testing as already mentioned above the suspensions fail almost 99% of the time. Even a perfect landing going slow almost always breaks something. They absolutely do not work "astoundly well", they constantly break as if made of plastic.

Using bigger wheel might help, then the bottom of the car doesn't hit ground. But that isn't solution for smaller wheels. The suspension is pretty weird have to say

There is no excusing it and trying to defend it is t worth it, they are faaaar too damn weak and fragile, all of my non suspension cars can take a landing just fine including bouncing around but i know that during my demo time before purchase they snapped at the slightest bump. They need a good boost by like 100%

Exactly, suspensions need at least 100% increase in durablitiy maybe more. They should break after a massive jump where you went way too fast, but shouldnt break just on a slow jump with a small ramp and you land nice and even...yet things still break almost every time.

Suspensions just need some adjusting, should be a pretty easy fix. This is still a fantastic game and a lot of fun.

this would be a example of a really nice suspension

so building skill is a part of it, but i have to agree 100% that suspension needs to be sturdier and mor reliable without having to spend houers on it

That is a excellent buggy, good work on the suspension much better than what I have built, more complex and effective. But for some reason if I crash and blow it up I cant use my build key again to build it, and have to reboot from main menu.

imo these game devs seem to be the kind that focus more on the main objectives than the needs of the community,

i'm hoping that they'll respond to some more to the discussion feeds after the champaign transition,
that would also be a good time considering they mentioned tuning things around the exploration mode thing :P

they definitely are more focused on the main objectives than on the "needs" of the community,
but they already implemented loads of stuff that was asked for by the community.
for example Logic, that was a pretty big change to the game made for the community. so i think that they'll definitely do something about it once they are done with that big update and have time for it

i do aree, logic gates are suprisingly useful things that aren't implimented in these kinds of games very often,
so it's very good that they noticed the peeps who wanted it and added it,

also here's an attempt at a monster truck: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1648907440
tbh it's easier to make a 3 wheel buggy-boat thing

Here's the situation:

Cause: The wheels dig into the ground.

Effect: Suspension is more likely to grind along the ground, the friction pulls the suspension back away from the vehicle, suspension breaks, car pull into the ground and grinds.

The suspension isn't always at fault, although they should integrate stronger settings for the suspension. Or, the Devs could try altering the hitbox for the suspension to allow more space for the suspension to operate and reduce these incidents.

Also, I'll be working on some vehicles to showcase some operational suspension for you soon.

You might be right its probably a combination of things causing the suspension to break all the time, but it definitely needs to be addressed either way.

Try driving this around for a bit, there is a center split of suspension in the vehicle allowing the vehicle to move stress away from the wheels and into the middle of the vehicle.

Kinda similar to dual suspension mountain bikes, but more linear in form.

Also it should show how compact a smooth ride can be.
