Trailmakers

Trailmakers has some issues on my pc.
My pc is not a terrible one. The only games I havent been able to run WELL were GTA5 and ARK but this pc isnt a top dollar machine. I know looks can be decieving, but I have run games that look more "advanced" graphically (Not bashing Trailmakers, love the art style) at good frames without input lag.

Today I booted up Trailmakers trying to play it for the first time since I just bought it and on initial startup it took forever to load. I realized that the graphics and that were probably too high and I recalled a safe mode bootup option. I exit and try this and I am able to get into the game much faster (this is a really smart option and I applaud the devs for this. Nearly every game should have this feature for those with pcs that are terrible. I am fortunate that mine isnt too bad so typically dont need this option.) and I can do the first tutorial. The graphics are set low but I realize I can change that later after the tutorial.

After the build tutorial im thrown into a slope (which isnt bad) and immediately a glaring issue is found. I have input delay with a wired keyboard. I thought maybe the game was still loading so i play for around 12 minutes more and the delay remains. Why am I recieving this bad of a delay? It is essential for movement (especially in a game based on vehicles) to be good. I understand higherup machines wont experience this but my machine isn't bottom dog either. I would gladly appreciate some advice or tips to fix this issue if possible! I have been keeping up with the game for a little but never got a chance to try it until now. I have already tried changing my resolution and the graphics are the lowest possible. I messed with Vsync as well so I have no clue what esle to do!

Hi Bubby0304.

Sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing. May I ask what hardware you're playing on? Are you playing windowed or full screen? You can switch between the two by pressing alt+enter in game to see if that makes a difference.

The input latency is something we're actively looking into, you're not alone in experiencing it, we also have reports of people on higher end machines having it. In your case it sounds like maybe your frame rate is quite low which could be the cause. If you go into preferences, you can try enabling "Force Single Process Server", this may improve things.

Im currently out of town right now but when i return i can get specifications on my pc. Im playing full screen and i will try force single process server. Thanks for the quick response. My frames are not too bad,its mainly the input lag killing it for me. Again thanks for replying

Hi,

I have an i7 8th gen Surface Book 2 laptop with a geforce 1050 and am experiencing severe input lag, close to 1000ms if not more!

The game runs silky smooth, no FPS issues what so error, I have tried messing with the v-sync settings and Force Single Process Server but to no avail.

Is there anything else I can do? With this much input lag it's unplayable and may have to request a refund. :(

I look forward to your reply

Hi Akal,

Have you tried the latest update on the upcoming beta branch? This has some changes related to input latency issues people have been experiencing.

Awesome, will give it a spin now!

Hi Bojangle, just gave it a spin and it's the same if not worse. I'll try it on my desktop today and see if it is any better. My desktop is an i7 7th gen running at 5ghz with a 1080ti, so it shouldn't have any excuses not to run the game properly.

I'm loving the game so far, it's just a massive shame about the input lag :(

Running the beta on my desktop which is also connected to a gsync monitor I'm perhaps seeing 100-200ms of input lag. I'm getting around 135fps with the settings on max. This is easily playable, but I look forward to this issue disappearing entirely so that I can also play it on my laptop.

Let me know if there is anything I can do further to help

Ah, that's a shame.

It's still something we're actively trying to hunt down, we're not really sure why some see it and others don't, especially people on mid to high end set ups, who really shouldn't be seeing it!

Are you experiencing the input lag regardless of what you do? So if you accelerate, it feels delayed? Or is it just with turning? If it's just turning, try inceasing the speed of the Steering Hinge and see if that makes things any better, it is by default quite slow.

Thanks for the info regarding your desktop experience, glad you can at least play it there!

When i load trailmakes on my lenovo laptop (idk the specific model) it loads pretty quickly. I get onto the game and it runs at a decent framerate with decent graphics (considering Scrap Mechanic recently broke). I get 20-22 FPS in the map with a vehicle, 25 FPS on my own, 18 FPS in build mode, and 5 FPS for a few seconds when i load my saved blueprints.

The thing i want to complain about is the 'BROKEN! Press r to repair' tab not going away when i repair my vehicle. Also, after five minutes of playing, i get a message saying:
' t looks l ke you're exper enc ng
ser ous framerate ssues. Try
reduc ng your graph cs.'
The strange thing is the missing i's from the message. When i change my settings, a different letter disappears. When i'm in build mode as well, if i have a large vehicle, i can't select the vehicle, even individual parts and anything else i try to attach glitches inside the vehicle.

If you read this thx a lot

bojangle I love the game and have played it quite a bit played some hours in each mode and absolutely love it but when me and my friend try to do the multiplayer campaign after a couple minutes of good fps he suddenly gets a huge fps drop and as far as I know doesnt get them back and has tried turning graphics down with some crashing involved is there anything he can do to try and fix it or do you need more specifics on the problem?

Trailmakers keeps crashing although i am running smoothly. It's so laggy even with good wifi and 12 gigs ram. I turned my resolution all the way down for extra frames, but still laggy. Restarted my laptop, laggy. Please tell me what i can do about those. Also, i do not understand that trailmakers does not use steam cloud. I lost all my progress after my laptop reset because of some software files were "accidentally" deleted. Especially in the campaign mode.

Vsync disabled causes a *massive* frame drop for me. GTX1050 Ti.
