This is stupid for sandbox. For any other gamemode it makes sense.
I'm sorry that the game didn't live up to your expectations in regards to locked blocks. As some fans have already noted in this thread, every functional block in the game is unlocked in the Sandbox, and you are able to spawn in and drive workshop vehicles even if you haven't unlocked the accessory blocks they use.
We don't feel that the inability to put a Moustache Block on your jetplane makes the sandbox less of a sandbox. We are far more worried, that without a tangible reward for playing the other game modes, players will feel less incentivized to try them out.
I still want to thank you for your feedback, because the game is in Early Access and we need all the feedback we can get. If you contact me on our Discord (https://discord.gg/Trailmakers) I will send you a reward for taking the time out of your day to make this thread and let us know your thoughts :)
There's more than just mustache blocks, you'd think that you of all people would know that. As for all 'functional' blocks unlocked, that's not true either. I came back to play after the Rally update, and found that things I had built were locked because of blocks used that apparently I didn't have anymore?
I'm not going to waste time unlocking these or looking for tutorials on where to find blocks I need all over again. I bought this game to just jump on from time to time and build some fun things with everything at my disposal. I understand there are modes for people who need progression, but I don't. I don't need my hand held and be told what to do and how to do it. I like diving into building mechanics and figuring it out as I go, and learn more and more. Each creation gets better and better as I learn and THAT is MY progression, not quests. Either way, I put up with the unlocking at first, unlocking some things, now it's all locked again, so no thanks.
I want to play more, I really do, but without a creative mode in the traditional sense that people expect is introduced, I'm not likely to come back, and that's a real shame, because the game is good, it's mismanagement that ruined it.
I personally have never really been a fan of the aesthetic blocks and I use them probably once every 50 builds or so. But yes I have put the 30 minutes in that it took me to get them all. I never liked the old expedition way of having to waste hours on finding the last blocks. Expedition as a idea was fun but the way to unlock the blocks there was cancerous and would kill you on the inside slowly. It's now much better since you don't even need to touch rally to get them all. But that is the fastest way.
For the first like 6 months - 12 months of playing this game I didn't feel like getting them at all because I had gotten bored of the expedition after the first few runs through it. And during those 6-12 months I had never really a need for them except when trying other people's builds. Which also is now solved because you don't need to even have them when trying builds with them now a says.
Now with the new rally mode which I fell in love with I completed it without spending a single dime on the actual parts like additional aerodynamic pieces and such and it took me around 60 minutes to complete the whole mode. After that I jumped back into sandbox where I normally play and unlocked all the aesthetics and still had money to spare. (Though I had some already unlocked from the time before, but I had enough money left to have been able to unlock those as well).
That said I now have all the aesthetic pieces (except early bird flag) but I very very very rarely even use them because I really don't see them necessary due them having 0 functionality and am able to build way prettier stuff with out them.
As for this. You still have all the aesthetics unlocked that you had unlocked before the update. Except for lights which you never actually even unlocked. But it will take you literally 2 minutes 30 seconds to unlock them again. (no joke the math has been done)
Have a pleasant day,
Your friendly neighbourhood Trailmaker Lartzam.
What's worse, some of my OWN creations from back in the day were locked because what, they included a few cosmetics on them that I supposedly unlocked back in the day? Why, then, have they been re-locked and thus locked me from using my OWN vehicle? Hmm? This is extremely messed up. It's my creation. At the very least I should be able to edit those blocks off my vehicle so I can work on it again instead of being unable to load it into an editor at all because you decided to lock my, previously unlocked, blocks behind your nutty little coin system.
Either way, the previous claim that the aesthetic blocks we unlocked are still unlocked now is a complete lie. I unlocked blocks, used them, and now I cannot access my own creations. This is not cool.
Actually I would like to inform you that "the aesthetic blocks we unlocked are still unlocked" is fully true as the blocks you are missing from those builds would be the lights since you have never unlocked them.
