The most popular method of loading mods involves a loader that patches specific memory addresses. Since it didn't employ pattern matching it had to be updated when version 1.03.0919 came out. The latest Mania Mod Loader is at https://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=37160
There is also the data folder method, involving extracting the contents of the .rsdk then deleting the .rsdk file. I believe this method still works, but results in a game that will fail the Steam game cache verification, possibly causing issues should a new patch be released.
Find a hook in Hydrocity to hang from then press Left-Left-Left-Right-Right-Right-Up-Up-Up, you should hear a Ring sound.
Then find one of those boost devices and enjoy the easter egg.
Did I stutter?
