Knuckles & Knuckles mode true ending broken

So, today, I spent about 2-3 hours playing through the "No Save" mode of the game as Knuckles with "& Knuckles" enabled. I know there's a special ending for if you beat "Knuckles & Knuckles" mode with all 7 chaos emeralds, so I wanted to see if it was worth the meme. After finally getting through Titanic Monarch Act 2 and beating the first boss, it did the transition of the Phantom Ruby making everything go negative, flash white, then fade to black. And that's it. It stayed black. Nothing happened after that. So, I quit the game, restarted, started "Knuckles & Knuckles" mode again (this time with debug activated, so I could just blow thorugh the levels after finding the chaos emeralds), and beat the boss again. The exact same thing happened. I eventually just turned my controller off, and the game came up with a message asking me to reconnect it. So I did, and it went back to the black screen, so my earlier theory of the game simply screwing up and soft-locking itself seems bust. I have no idea why this is happening. Am I the only one getting this? If so, how do I fix it? Honestly, with how buggy the game's been for me, I wouldn't be surprised if it was simply a problem with the game. I'd rather not look up a YouTube video of the ending, because I'd rather experience it for myself.

Stuff like this is why I stick to console versions of games whenever possible. The game seems to be twice as glitchy on PC.

Some interesting new finds:


When the cutscene begins after you finish the first boss of Titanic Monarch Act 2, while I can't move Knuckles with my gamepad, I still have control over him with my keyboard.

During the black screen, I am also able to jump, glide, and spin dash using the keyboard controls, though I can only hear the sounds as the screen is still black. Judging by the sounds and the ability to spindash in succession, it appears Knuckles is still in the same boss room, the screen has just gone black.

Also, using the keyboard I can bring up the pause menu and select Continue, Restart, and Exit. Pressing restart will take me back right before the boss battle, but the same problem occurs every time I beat it.

Guess I should be glad I'm doing Knuckles & Knuckles mode last. I still need to 100% Singleplayer Knuckles and finally Sonic alone before all that's left is Knuckles & Knuckles mode to 100% the game.

Just realized that I have control over the player 2 Knuckles with the keyboard. Kinda confusing haha.

Well maybe if they actually spent the extra time bug fixing instead of making it more buggy with garbage DRM.
Hate to break it to you but DSU and PS3 were the last consoles,
Matrix TV tuner PC wannabes PS Neo and xbone one aren't consoles.

Oh good so on PC we can map player 2 to the shoulder buttons and joystick so you can control them both like with older Sonics on PC.

Yet another reason PC is ten fold better than "consoles"

I just had this same problem a few minutes ago, actually. Was trying to see if anyone else encountered the same thing, and more importantly, if they had a fix.
Kinda sucks losing hours of progress to a bug like this one.

Seems this is happening to more users. For those who want to look it up without having to replay the whole thing, you can always use the Developer Menu in the game to jump to the ending directly and play it.

As far as I know, yes.

So is the game different if you play as Knuckes lisntead of sonic? What is Knuckes special edning you are talkinb about? Isnt it the same game no matter if toy play as sonic or Knuckes? Iam on Hydrocity now with Sonic. After i finish the game should i play it again with Knuckles?

All three characters play differently and have access to some areas that the others dont. Knuckles in particular gets a lot of these areas that play into his slightly lower jump height and ability to climb walls. What the op is talking about is Knuckles & Knuckles mode which has its own unique ending. The problem is that once you beat the Egg Monarch Act 2 boss the game often crashes. Thus preventing you from seeing the ending short of using the developer menu/level select.

But except those few areas the game is the same, right? Is it worth to play the same game 3 times just for a few different areas?
