Giant Rings don't regenerate in PC version?
So, I've watched videos of other versions and the giant rings are supposed to come back if you reload the level and do it again. Is this a bug? Special Stages are already really hard as they are...

Not to mention the giant rings are really hard to find unless you go find a video. I went through 3-4 stages without finding a single giant ring.

Did you complete the game?
The rings only regenerate when you have a clear save.

No, I haven't. I heard that the giant rings are supposed to come back if you reset the level.
I think the only way to fix it is by already 'completing' a file, then you go back to any level, once done with special stage you exit, finally reload the level and the ring should be there.
At least this was the case for me(worked in CPZ, when i tried it on a save i didn't beat and exited, the ring wouldn't reload).

I just wish it was easier... *sigh*

The giant rings will respawn endlessly only after you beat the game (or start a brand new game).

The easiest is to finish the game and then repeat with the first giant ring in green heell zone

It works exactly the same way Sonic 3 did. If you fail a special stage, you need to either finish the game and replay on the cleared save, or start a new save.

That said, if you make the effort to look, there are more than enough big rings in the game to fail several times and still get all 7 before the last stage.

That's really not the easiest.. since Studiopolis act 1 has a ring you can get to in 10 seconds, 11-12 if you're a slowpoke.

Thanks. I'll probably do that then, I'm having a lot of trouble finding and completing them.

If you're at least partially compotent at 2D platformers, you'd get about 4 - 6 Chaos Emeralds before leaving Chemical Plant Zone. I understand saying that finding the giant rings is hard, especially if you haven't been playing S3&K for 20 years like I have, but to argue that it's "too hard" and that "I can't find any giant rings"....are you REALLY exploring the levels or not? I can tell you with confidence that giant rings are generally easier to find in Mania than S3&K from what I've seen so far. I might change my opinions at later levels, but Super Sonic shouldn't be easy to obtain anyway.

If you really can't be bothered with completing the game, then you can always access them through the developer menu:

So I've found a far easier way now. Simply close the game if you lose a special stage, and I mean the instant you lose it. This is to avoid the auto-save consuming the giant ring.

The only flaw with this method is that you have to complete the act(s) all over again from the start, so you're better off looking for giant rings near the start of act 1. Luckily for me, there were 2 giant rings in plain sight at the start of Oil Ocean, so that adds my emerald count up to 5. Only 2 more :)

I believe you have to beat the game for that or do what has already been suggested and that is to exit the stage just when you're about to fail.

I think you only get 1 Retry though based on what I've heard.

Eh that defeats the purpose really.

If it's your first playthrough with all characters I think you're just spoiling it for yourself personally.
