it's in the antivirus's options, after removing it from quarantine you must add an exception for the game.

Denuvo is likely the reason why your anti-virus is blocking it.

From a different thread, hope this helps.

I have Mcafee on my PC at work and can confirm the issue and there is no option to create an exception for the file unfortunately (it only lets you restore or delete from Quarantine).

You'll have to disable "Real-time Scanning" if you want to play Sonic Mania.

Right click Mcafee icon > Change settings > Real time Scanning > Turn Off > When I restart my PC / Never
(although I would pointout that McAfee is ♥♥♥♥♥, but I know that's not being very helpful)

Because of this DRM thing going around for PC I have noticed that mcaffee has spotted that it is not safe and removes it from my PC resulting me in not playing so if they fix this I will be happy

Hi. I updated my solution on the other thread.

First you'll want to restore SonicMania.exe from the quarantine list. If Mcafee is being a pain and doesn't allow you to do this, you can use Steam to restore the file back into the proper directory.

In your Steam Game Library > right click Sonic Mania > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files...

The next step is to put the game on Mcafee's exception list:

Right click Mcafee icon > Change settings > Real time Scanning > Expand the "Excluded Files" dropdown menu > Add SonicMania.exe into the list.

The game file should be located somewhere under:
(your drive name/letter):\Steam\steamapps\common\Sonic Mania

That should hopefully resolve your issue.

Open Mcafee then go to real time scanning,

Now open the Sonic Mania game folder found in Program Files (86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/SonicMania

Add SonicMania.exe to Excluded Files in real time scanning.

Enjoy your game.

If you try to play Sonic Mania and it does not work or it gives you an error saying the game is missing a dll file try this method below.

well, I'VE MADE IT WORK!, this is what i did
(VC redist that came with the game installed)
-run sonicmania.exe from install dir
-look for the first file missing, mine was appearing in two folders in windows/winsxs, i went with the one in the following (yours may vary)
C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_avast.vc140.crt_fcc99ee6193ebbca_14.0.24210.0_none_9e58d6f8311e6fc8
-open folder with X86 in its name that appeared in your search,
-copy all the contents to sonicmania install folder,
-run sonicmania.exe ( now should work)
