Anyone have this working on a Quest 2 on win 10?

As my Valve Index controllers ran out of energy, I tried to start the game in Non-VR mode, but SteamVR started, too, Shouldn't SteamVR be deactivated when I select non-vr mode? I got the starting screen of Aquila but was unable to change any selections with the mouse on the floating "<" and ">". Other icons (e.g. bird selection) worked normal. Is this as intended?? Thanks for looking into it :)...
