Vision Therapy VR

Please Let Me Help Develop This
I have amblyopia and strabismus and moderate programming and design knowledge. I could help beta test new content or submit ideas. I have an idea for a fully-fledged game for vision therapy that I think you'd like to hear.

I too have amblyopia. Since the devs never got back to you, did you look into any other means to create a better experience than this?

I was thinking of trying Vivid Vision one day, but it's a lot of money for what is essentially a Rift running some sort of game, that you only get to use during the short appointments! (Heh, if only the software for it was on the Bay.) I tried AmblyoPlay in the past and it was completely useless. Fortunately they refunded me.

I haven't tried this game yet. Is it worth it? (I get the impression it was designed with conditions like amblyopia in mind.)

You can actually take Vivid Vision home with you and is a lot more configurable than Vision Therapy VR. I have not touched it in quite some time as I find this game to be less intriguing than Vivid Vision. I've not actually used it but I've watched it in 3D on YouTube through a headset.

But yes, this software is completely worth the asking price if you stick with it, it's insanely cheap always.

Oh, interesting. I'm guessing Vivid Vision has some kind of login functionality to prevent people from snatching the software, lol. How long have you been using the headset for and did you see major changes from it?

Oh, you can watch Vivid Vision videos on YouTube in 3D on any VR headset. I don't know if that was what you were inquiring about but if you meant if VR has helped my eyesight, yes. My doctor was impressed as my right eye is now actually usable but still almost fully suppressed.

I was referring to the software being ripped for use on the normal consumer headsets. (I didn't expect this to have happened as I figured there'd be some sort of DRM.)

Could you elaborate on this? Do you mean that your vision strength increased in the affected eye but it still wanders, or vice-versa?

As fascinating as the technology is, it's a heavy price to pay if the eye would still wander (or drift) afterwards.

The vision strength increased but the fact that I only see peripheral vision out of my right eye, not a regular field-of-view. It's always been that way. I've never in my life seen in "3D."

My eye can focus and be aligned and my eye wanders ever so slightly. I feel like the only way to fix that would be through Vivid Vision or surgery, to be honest.

I see. A combination of Lasik (I have astigmatism in one of my eyes) and Vivid Vision is how I'd eventually like to correct the problems. I think maybe I saw in 3D when I was much younger, but if I did I can't remember it. My right eye is completely ignored unless I need the peripheral vision to see what my left eye cannot.

Well, good luck with it all.

Thank you! That is the same boat I am in.

I just want to figure out how to independently move the screens in games to adjust for the gaze my eyes are off. Can you do that in vivid vision? You know how there are different degrees in strength with prism, well is there a way to translate that movement to the individual screens within the headsets? I too have strabismus and recently had corrective surgery and now have been coming back to my occulus to play again ~my 4th nerve palsy happened about 4 years ago~, but the minor degrees of being able to change the torsion of the display or the vertical and horizontal being put to our eyes maybe could act like a "prism". Is that how vivid vision works? I never got the chance to try it out. Hope you guys see this, i know its been a while.

Share your ideas! Maybe developers are reading this, but do not have the time to respond to you if you do not put your ideas in public writen text.

I think it would be great if they put some form of plataform we could build other exercises for ambliopia, which is not covered in this version I think.

Does this app help with the amblyopia at all? Especially regarding the improvement of visual acuity in both eyes.
I remember back before I had surgery to fix my diplopia looking for something like "vivid vision" where you could simply drag the two screens together until it fixed my double vision and then I could get relief via VR. What an amazing piece of tech that would be for people suffering with double vision issues, im assuming the doctors would be able to measure how much adjustment of the screens you drag them in headset and be able to apply that to future prescriptions or surgeries as well. It would be a million dollar idea if anybody ever produced it.
