Grainy on 1440p resolution with Extra High, High, Highend settings
Is this just how it is because the game is a decade old? Can't there be some actual HD DLC pack? No, that highend setting in the menu doesn't do anything.

thanks.

huh?
Game looks amazing to me; max settings, 1080p, on a GTX 1070; one of the best looking MMORPG's i've played

it's grainy in the distance, very poor distance range, confirmed by official screenshots as well. Look at benchmark games like ESO and compare.

Yeah it's my biggest gripe with the game. The fact that everything is so grainy in the distance at max settings, plus the fact the game becomes extremely blurry when you remove the UI with ctrl-u.

It looks like it adds a filter over the screen when you remove the UI which makes everything look like garbage >_>

yea its definitly a filter, it emphasizes the Depth-of-Field in Ctrl-U for screenshots most likely.

As for the grain, i dont really notice that personally, i notice depth-of-field but not much else. Cant help ya, sorry :/

It doesnt bother me at all that the far distance is blurry. Im usually focused on the here and now.

Can you do a screengrab, cause the game looks fricken amazing in 4K. beautiful textures, close and far away. Really impressive! So no need for HD texture packs, that would introduce more lag.

There's a way to remove the sharpening filter. The downside is that several other post-processing effects will be removed as well.

Here's a very old discussion on the old BDO official forum: http://forum.blackdesertonline.com/index.php?/topic/53082-finally-found-a-way-to-disable-the-horrible-forced-sharpness-filter-and-other-post-processing-effects/&page=1

Interesting! Thanks for this -- I like tweaking these for the desired effect.

Do you by any chance know of a way to mute pet sound effects, such as the fricken penguins sub-sonic slide effects, it's annoyingly loud. Without effecting the other sound effrects of course.
Ghigi Jan 8, 2018 @ 5:48am
No idea on the sound effects. Be careful with the tampering, the above mentioned tweak is legit, but removing files and/or modifying the .paz archives is strictly forbidden.

Ah well, poo to the sound effects and all. : P And thanks for the heads up, BTW. But yeah, I won't be tamepring with the .paz archives at all. Very considerate of you. :lovebs:

And while I have your attention, are there any legit mods with clouds for this game? As clouds in the horizon are sorely lacking in this game. : (

The only graphics mod I know is allowed, is the fonts style. S several youtubers/streamers are using it.

Something to consider, even though I am able to run the game on the highest settings, and it always seems smooth, still, when I had very intense fights, there were times when I think my GPU wasnt able to keep up and would cause lagouts that got me killed. I since dropped my settings down lower, the game still looks awesome either way, but I stopped having that lag.

The grain in distance doesn't bother me much either though tbh. I'm rarely looking in the distance and its seriously extreme distance where it shows for me. The screenshot above doesn't have a long enough distance to show it.

I'd seen mods for adjusting the effects but I never use mods for MMOs out of fears of breaching any EULAs. That filter ruins all my screenshots :(
